The Lewis project is a charitable organisation that has been set up to promote mental wellbeing for young musicians aged 16+ through the power of music.

On Friday night, one of The Lewis Project founders, Michele, had the pleasure of catching up with our wonderful patron Derek Nash Music at his Wonder of Stevie gig at The Stag Sevenoaks, and what a fantastic evening it was! 🎶

Derek very kindly gave The Lewis Project a shout-out on stage, which meant so much to us. His continued support is incredibly appreciated.

It was a brilliant night all round, a full house, a great atmosphere, and amazing music. Huge thanks again to Derek for his generosity and ongoing encouragement of the charity 💙

Moments like these remind us how powerful community support really is.

We just wanted to take a moment to give a huge thank you to Barry and the brilliant team at The Anchor, Sevenoaks.

Over the years, they’ve hosted so many special moments for us - Christmas dinners, live gigs, and plenty of social drinks in between. Every single time, they’ve been generous, welcoming, and endlessly supportive of what we do.

If you’ve not visited The Anchor yet, later this month is the perfect opportunity.

Once again, we gathered at The Anchor, Sevenoaks to celebrate Christmas together and what a night it was!
Fabulous food, all the trimmings, cracking company… and plenty of cracker-pulling chaos (the photos say it all! 🤣)

A huge thank you to Barry, our wonderful landlord, for treating us to a delicious Christmas dinner and always welcoming The Lewis Project with open arms.
You truly are a superstar ⭐

We also want to take this moment to send a massive thank you to our incredible musicians.
Year after year, you show up, support, share your talents, lift spirits, and keep the heart of The Lewis Project beating. You are simply the best.

📣𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀! 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗸 𝗡𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 🎷

We are incredibly proud to announce that Derek Nash Music, British Jazz Award-winning bandleader, composer, arranger, producer and engineer, has become a patron of The Lewis Project, and we couldn’t be happier!

Derek is one of the UK’s most respected and in-demand jazz musicians and he lived in the Sevenoaks area for many years, still regularly performing locally. Earlier this year, he visited us and played alongside our young saxophonist Robbie Ayers (seen picture with Derek), joining in on several original songs by our members. His warmth, generosity and energy brought smiles all round and we knew instantly he was the right person to support our work.

We asked him to be our patron that same night and just a few weeks later, he came back with a resounding yes. Welcome to the family, Derek!

🎶 The Lewis Project, based in Sevenoaks, supports young musicians aged 16+ by promoting mental wellbeing through music creation, collaboration and community.

🎷 We currently have 2 free spaces available, as two of our musicians have recently moved on to university.

📍 We meet every Monday, 5.30pm–9.30pm at HITB The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks

We can't believe that it was this time 3 weeks ago that The Lewis Project took to the stage at Local & Live at the Calverley Grounds Tunbridge Wells!
Here’s a few photos and a video snippet depicting one of a number of a great performances from the music festival.
We had wonderful feed back from those who attended and The Lewis Project artists and musicians rocked the place as usual!
Thank you to all of those who came out to enjoy the sunshine and support us, we hope that you enjoyed the day as much as we did.
And an extra special thank you Paul Dunton, the organiser of Local & Live and his team who has supported us for the second year running.

Local & Live has kicked off this evening! 🎶✨
We’ll be there tomorrow at 4pm on the Main Stage in the beautiful Calverley Grounds, just a 5-minute walk from Tunbridge Wells train station. 🎤🎸🥁

Our band members are so looking forward to performing and being part of this fantastic celebration of local music. 💜

We are so grateful to Alan Nicholls who is taking on the incredible Dawn to Dusk Enduro challenge 🏍️ on 23–24 August in memory of his friend Jack Haine, all to raise vital funds for The Lewis Project. 💜

The Lewis Project provides a safe, creative, and supportive space for young people to come together, make music, and improve their mental wellbeing. Where there’s music, there’s hope. 🎶
