Scotstoun Community Council

Scotstoun Community Council Scotstoun Community Council seeks to create a better Scotstoun for all.

It is a voluntary organisation set up by statute by the Local Authority & run by local residents who care about the community and want to make it a better place to live, work & play. Monthly meetings are usually held in the evening of the last Thursday of the month but there is no meeting in July nor December. Meetings are open to all residents but if you have an issue to raise it would be much appreciated if you could lodge it beforehand or, at the very latest, at the start of the meeting.

Due to a diary clash this Thursday I attended the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Roadshow at the Annexe last night but was able to ask questions. re. Scotstoun specifics which I, as a local resident, found useful.
I would recommend that other residents or business owners with concerns or questions try to make it along to Heart of Scotstoun Community Centre on this coming Thursday evening to make them known at the Roadshow.

We, Jordanhill Community Council and Whiteinch Community Council will continue to engage with Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games in the run up to the games.

Statement from Kingsway Community Connections

Kingsway Community Connections is deeply concerned by the scenes of unrest, racism and hostility witnessed in Glasgow and across the UK in recent days. Reports of violence, intimidation and targeted abuse directed towards people because of their nationality, ethnicity, faith or immigration status are unacceptable and have no place in our communities.

For over 25 years, KCC has supported people from many different backgrounds, cultures, faiths and life experiences. Our community is proudly multicultural and built on the belief that everyone should be treated with dignity, respect and compassion.

Every day, we see the positive contribution that people from different countries and cultures make to community life. We see friendships formed across generations and backgrounds. We see neighbours supporting one another through difficult times. We see people finding belonging, connection and purpose within their community.

Recent events will understandably leave many people feeling anxious, frightened or uncertain. We want to reassure everyone connected to KCC that we remain committed to being a welcoming, inclusive and safe space for all.

No one should feel unsafe because of who they are, where they come from or what they believe. We stand in solidarity with all those affected by racism, discrimination and hostility. We are committed to creating a community where everyone feels valued, respected and able to participate fully.

Our response to division will continue to be the same as it has always been: building relationships, strengthening understanding, creating opportunities for connection and standing alongside all members of our community.

You are welcome here, you belong here, and you are a valued part of our community.

At a time when others seek to divide, we choose community.
