Sometimes the simplest things are the best.
A tent. A sleeping bag. A dark sky. A few friends. And an adventure away from screens, noise and the pressures of everyday life.
There is something very special about seeing young people outdoors — getting muddy, making fires, cooking together, laughing, learning to look after themselves and each other, and discovering that you really don’t need very much to have a brilliant time.
Scouting gives young people something increasingly precious: freedom, friendship, resilience, confidence and a connection with the great outdoors.
This photo, taken on camp with 46th Westborough Scout Group, seems to capture it perfectly. Just a handful of tents glowing in the darkness, but inside them are friendships, memories and experiences that can last a lifetime.
In a complicated world, perhaps young people need the simplicity of nights like this more than ever.
This is Scouting. This is 46th Westborough. And this is why we do it. ⚜️🏕️
