Evening guys and girls, I know im quiet at the mo , just taking stock of priorities.

I have been contacted by a young man in Leyton Buzzard. He's started his own firewood and kindling company.

I can hardly believe im gonna say this but hes offering FREE thats right FREE firewood and kindling to any veteran's this winter with the hope that he will keep your buisness. The only costs he asks you reimburse him for is his delivery cost. ( petrol money )

Well friends great news .... just passed 500 followers. Thank you for sticking with the original FVA. Your support means so much. After only 3 days aboard I went to visit our beneficiary today and wow......didnt recognise the interior , the boat has been repainted from top to bottom , reinsulated. Ill share some pics when I'm allowed.

That's the way to do it , given a boat this morning , it's now with its forever home. A 27 ft Norman with a 35 hp inboard engine , 2 years BSC. We would like to thank Kevin and his family for the fabulous donation.

Ive been a bit quiet for a while on here, but I can't stay quiet about this. A 27 ft twin cabin Norman. Given to us Saturday morning by next Saturday it will be given to soneone as a FOREVER home. It's the first time we have ever done this but it is in keeping with the new policy of not keeping boats for months with little to no work being done. The ORIGINAL Forces Veterans Afloat. Trust the Logo!

RIP Donald.

It was a pleasure and an honour to meet you good Sir.

Council leader James Dawson led tributes to Britain’s oldest man Donald Rose following the announcement of the Ilkeston war hero’s death at the age of 110.

Cllr Dawson said as the borough prepared to fly its flags at half mast to mark the old soldier’s passing: “Our condolences go out to Donald’s family and all who knew him. Erewash was privileged to count him as a resident.”

Ex-Desert Rat Donald was the nation’s oldest Forces veteran – after surviving a bullet to the leg during the World War Two Normandy landings.

In May the town hall sent a delegation to the Canal Vue Care Home in Ilkeston to award him its highest honour – the Freedom of the Borough. It was this accolade that meant the council could lower flags bearing the borough’s crest.
