New Band Equipment

Thank you to the Air cadet Charity, for their generosity and support to enable the squadron to purchase three snares, a tenner drum and a bass drum - with bags and sticks. We are now able to start a drum corps, opening up the opportunity for cadets on squadron to get involved in both marching band activities; with the aim to add brass instruments to the band in the future.

This stream of training will enable the squadron to gain music badges as well as open up a route for cadets to get involved with both wing and region events.

Any cadets who have already achieved a grade for an instrument are also already eligible for a badge.

The Squadron has recently purchased a new projector thanks to a grant from Sandy Town Council for £413.50.

Being able to deliver training is an important of what we're able to deliver alongside all our other activities we have to offer, so this new projector will make a big difference to what we can provide to our cadets.

Exercise Noble Skywave

Last week a team from 22 (Sandy) Squadron had the amazing opportunity to compete in an International Military Radio competition.

Exercise Noble Skywave is a communications exercise using high frequency radio, with teams from across the World competing , organised by the Canadian Communications and Electronics Branch of the Canadian Armed Forces.

During the exercise our team logged radio contacts across Europe, Canada and the United States, even getting as far as Hawaii, 11,544Kms away using only a small 20 watt HF Radio, and dipole antennas the team had put together.

Commenting on the exercise, Cadet Warrant Officer Tre-vett said, "Taking part in Noble Skywave was an incredible opportunity to gain experience with military radio operators around the globe, and refine my own radio knowledge in such an important element of the cadet experience. I was incredibly proud to represent RAFAC internationally".
