Poppy Appeal

Over the weekend the Squadron has been supporting the Royal British Legion - Sandy and District Poppy Appeal at Tesco in Sandy, and Frosts in Willington.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY – HELP SUPPORT 22 (SANDY) SQUADRON RAF AIR CADETS

Could you help make a difference to young people in our local community?

22 (Sandy) Squadron RAF Air Cadets is looking for a new Civilian Committee Chairman to help support our cadets and our fantastic team of adult volunteers.

You don't need previous RAF or Air Cadet experience. We're looking for someone who is community-minded, organised and willing to give some of their time to help a local youth organisation continue to thrive.

The Civilian Committee plays an important role in supporting the Squadron, including:

* Chairing Civilian Committee meetings
* Supporting the Squadron and its staff
* Helping with fundraising and resources
* Helping the Squadron develop and grow
* Representing the Squadron within the local community

Full support will be provided, so if you have the enthusiasm and commitment, don't worry if you haven't done anything like this before.

Perhaps you're a local business owner, retired professional, former parent, former cadet, veteran, community volunteer — or simply someone who would like to give something back locally.

New Band Equipment

Thank you to the Air cadet Charity, for their generosity and support to enable the squadron to purchase three snares, a tenner drum and a bass drum - with bags and sticks. We are now able to start a drum corps, opening up the opportunity for cadets on squadron to get involved in both marching band activities; with the aim to add brass instruments to the band in the future.

This stream of training will enable the squadron to gain music badges as well as open up a route for cadets to get involved with both wing and region events.

Any cadets who have already achieved a grade for an instrument are also already eligible for a badge.

PROMOTIONS

Recently following on from successfully completing their JNCO & SNCO courses respectively, alongside development and one to one mentoring on squadron. We are proud to announce the following into their new roles Sgt Wells, Sgt Parkinson, Cpl Goodwin and Cpl Wilmot.

Very well deserved by all, after months of hard work contributing to the squadron as well as representing the squadron at both wing and squadron events.
