CONVO. THE GAME PLANS

Every child has a voice. Children communicate in different ways. These activities can be adapted so everyone can take part in the way that works for them – whether that’s talking, pointing, choosing, moving, drawing, signing or using symbols or communication aids.

Give children time and different ways to share. Focus on what they’re communicating, not how they communicate it.

KEEP UP THE CONVO WITH PLAY SAFE 2026

This year, Play Safe is asking every adult in football to Keep Up The Convo with children and young people – not just over Play Safe Weekend, but throughout the season.

Safeguarding isn’t only about knowing what to do when something’s wrong. It’s also about creating regular opportunities for children and young people to share what matters to them – and showing them their views are heard and taken seriously.

On the pitch. On the sidelines. On the way home. At pick-up and drop-off. Everyday moments are opportunities to Keep Up The Convo.

Keep it light. Start with fun and easy topics.
Keep it open. Ask open questions and give them space to share.
Keep it active. Reflect, repeat, respond. Show you’re really listening.
KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE BALL. AND YOUR EARS ON THE CONVO

The small talk before, during and after football is bigger than you think. Give children opportunities to share, really listen, and respond to what they tell you. That’s how we show them their views matter.

Little Lionesses Year 1 & 2 Weekly Sessions ⚽

We caught up with Head of Girls Section Sarah Carson to discuss why these weekly sessions are great!

"Our Little Lionesses sessions are a fun introduction to girls only football, in an environment which allows for girls to have fun, make new friends and learn about the game. These sessions have been a big success as the players from Little Lionesses have to gone on create our new U7 and U8 teams for the following season! All of our players are coached by FA and UEFA qualified coaches, including female coaches who are currently playing and understand the importance of Girl only sessions"

If you are looking for weekly Year 1 or Year 2 Girls development sessions and looking to join a girls team for the 27/28 season, book onto our sessions: https://loom.ly/jjOcL2Q
