We are still campaigning .....

How are you making waves this WI Week of River Action?

WI Week of River Action returns this autumn for the third consecutive year.

We’ve been campaigning on water pollution for nearly 100 years, and we’re deeply concerned about the growing evidence that sewage — both raw and treated — is a major pathway for microplastics and other harmful substances to enter nature and the food chain.

Even when wastewater reaches treatment plants, microplastics and other pollutants don’t just disappear. They’re largely retained in sewage sludge, which is then spread on to farmland. We urgently need much more information and transparency about what is in the sludge

Whether you’re organising a local stunt, a river walk, crafting a display, or hosting an event, your actions matter.

Use the new Week of River Action toolkit on MyWI to get started, and share your plans with us to inspire others and a chance to be featured in WI Life: https://mywi.thewi.org.uk/public-affairs-and-campaigns/wi-week-of-river-action-toolkit
