We meet Thursday’s 1-3pm in Royton, Oldham, Greater Manchester for fun, friendship and support. Springboard is an Oldham based charity, set up for and by people living with dementia and their carers. We meet on a Thursday providing advice, support and leisure activities. These include day trips; musical entertainment; educational talks; tea dances and crafts in a very friendly, safe and relaxed en

vironment. Some of the regular activities each week are facilitated by staff from AgeUk Oldham and once a month we have separate sessions for carers and those living with dementia to get a chance to talk freely and get support. Paul's Parish Centre, Downey House, Church Street, Royton, Oldham, Lancashire, OL2 5JS between 1-3pm.

We’re out on a trip next week so won’t be at Downey House but we’re back on 2nd July to celebrate Betty, Joyce & Howard’s birthdays with the Kershaw’s Choir 🎶

We’re looking forward to seeing all our Springboard family this afternoon at Downey House and the good folks from DWAEC. We’ve got lots of fun planned, Kaye has a large jar of sweets to be won🍫 🍭 and we’re also celebrating Reg’s upcoming 90th birthday. Could one lucky person win £40 with open the envelope ✉️ or will it be something from Rachael’s lucky bag? 🤔

Dementia often forces people to withdraw socially due to memory loss and communication barriers. The result? A damaging cycle where isolation speeds up brain decline.
It’s , and at Springboard, we see firsthand how powerful connection can be. We have watched some truly beautiful friendships blossom right here in our group! Meeting together gives our members a safe space to talk, laugh, and support one another, breaking that cycle of isolation.💜

We’re very lucky to have support from at Oldham Libraries and this week they have arranged for us to have an encounter with some really wild animals with DWAEC 🐾 It’s a fun afternoon but we know not everyone is an animal lover, so there will be a second room available with entertainment and support. We’ve also got our usual raffle, name card and the chance to win £40 on Open the Envelope ✉️

On Thursday when celebrating we discussed how to keep calm in challenging situations and practicing deep breathing techniques. Just taking a few minutes to relax can help. If you are struggling as a carer you need to ask for help from family, friends or speak to your GP and Social Services for respite or extra care and always remember that self care isn’t selfish!
