An exciting week for these pups who've had a day out at the Sea Life Centre in Great Yarmouth! 🐶🖤💛

It's all part of their socialisation training to help them feel confident in new environments.

Looks like Sade, Crystal and Bob really enjoyed themselves.

You can become part of a guide dog puppies journey, just head to the link in our bio to find out more about becoming a puppy raiser.

A big thanks for having us!

Are you a dog lover with room in your home to look after a dog during evenings and weekends?

By becoming a training dog fosterer, you’ll be giving a dog in training a loving home whilst they embark on their journey to become a guide dog. You’ll get to see the progress your furry companion is making in their training and be a vital part of their journey, without the commitment of looking after a dog full time.

🌟 As Volunteers’ Week comes to an end, meet Adele Robertson who has taken on two different roles for guide dogs🌟

Not only was she a puppy raiser for black labrador Ollie, she is now taking care of him as he starts his career as a guide dog dad. He has recently fathered his first litter of seven adorable pups! 🖤

Adele said: ''We were delighted to welcome Ollie into our family at eight weeks old as a Guide Dogs puppy.

He has made a huge difference to our family, we honestly don’t know what we’d do without him! We’re so proud of how brilliantly he’s progressed and that he’s now part of the breeding programme, playing his part in what truly is one of the most special roles at Guide Dogs.

Seeing him and Dottie welcome seven beautiful, life changing puppies into the world is just amazing. They are all so gorgeous, bright and full of life-changing potential.''

A huge thank you to Adele 👏

We’ve teamed up with the Black Country Living Museum, home to the set of the TV show Peaky Blinders.

Museum staff have been given sighted guide training to make sure it's inclusive and accessible for people with sight loss.

Not only that – we also took some of our pups along to help them build confidence in busy, unfamiliar settings while interacting with costumed characters and members of the public.

A big thank you to the black country museum for having us!

After recently visiting the National Centre for their puppy checks, cheeky Jinny, Milo, and Isaiah have gone to live with wonderful volunteer puppy raisers across the UK.

In Isaiah’s case, he also received a very warm welcome from pet dog Lindy too 🐶

This is the next step on their journey to becoming life-changing guide dogs. Best of luck little pups!

We’ve been working with De Montfort Hall in Leicester to help make the venue safer and more accessible for people with sight loss.

Front of house staff took part in a sighted guide training session with Claire and Oli, who also brought some helpers along!

This type of training allows venues to be ready to help anyone needing assistance during their visit to venues like this one.

This bank holiday weekend is set to be a hot one ☀️

Keep your dog cool with our top tips:

💧 Walk your dog early in the morning, or later in the evenings - this is typically when the temperature is lower and more comfortable for your dog to exercise in.
💧 Be mindful of your dog’s paw pads when walking on surfaces such as tarmac, concrete, and pavements that can become dangerously hot. You can carefully test the temperature with the back of your hand for around five seconds - if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws!
💧 Keep your dog's water bowl topped up with cool, fresh water – and take a supply with you if you go out.
💧 Many dogs love swimming, but be especially careful in the hot weather - keep your dog out of stagnant water because of the risk of blue-green algae, and always be aware of currents in the water source.

We have lots more advice on keeping your dog safe in hot weather on our website👇
