We've made the difficult decision to take a little step back and temporarily pause our services.

With limited stock and little practical support and personal commitments needing my attention, we're just not in a position to keep up with demand right now.

We won't be taking any new referrals for the time being.

SPECIFIC DONATIONS NEEDED PLEASE 📢

We’re currently looking for the following items to help a young lady set up their home

Double bed with a clean, usable mattress

Wardrobe or Chest of drawers

Any other useful bedroom storage

Items must be clean, usable and in good condition please. We’re unable to take broken, heavily worn, stained or damaged furniture.

This is why Pass It On Rotherham exists.

Today, someone came to collect a single free item of furniture after having to leave everything behind and start again.
After a chat, they didn't just leave with that one item. They also took pots, pans, glasses, a microwave, a toaster and other essentials to help make a house feel like a home.

A few hours later, we received this message.

"Thank u so much for everything. I feel like I have a home now ❤️"

That's what it's all about.
Every mug, every saucepan, every piece of furniture that gets donated has the power to help someone rebuild their life.

Thank you to everyone who supports Pass It On Rotherham. You may never meet the people you've helped, but today is proof that your kindness makes a real difference.

Why do we sometimes go quiet?

It's something I've wanted to explain for a while.

Im overwhelmed. The need for our service and the kind residents of our borough.

If you've followed Pass It On Rotherham CIC for any length of time, you'll probably have noticed that the page can go quiet for weeks, then suddenly we're posting every day asking for donations, volunteers or somewhere to call home.

The truth is, it's mostly just me.

Im a single mother...Alongside running a house clearance business to help pay the bills, I'm trying to collect donations, answer messages, move furniture, organise referrals, deliver items, keep the container organised, sell items to cover running costs and somehow find time to apply for funding and search for premises.

At the moment, we're operating from a single storage container that's completely full. Every new donation means moving furniture around to make space, and every referral means trying to find the right item while working around everything else.

I wish I could help everyone, but I simply can't keep up with the level of need on my own. There are far more requests than there are hours in the day.

Please don't think we've disappeared when the page goes quiet. It usually means we're busy behind the scenes collecting, delivering, clearing space or helping people directly.

Pass It On Rotherham CIC is still here, and I'm as determined as ever to make it work. We just need a little more help, a little more space and a bit more time.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, bought furniture, referred someone to us or simply believed in what we're trying to build. Every bit of support keeps us moving forward.

One day I hope to look back on these early days from a proper community hub and remember when it all started in a single, overflowing container.

Could you spare a day to volunteer with Pass It On Rotherham CIC?

I'm looking for a few helping hands.

At the moment it's mostly just me moving sofas, wardrobes, beds and other heavy furniture.

I get on with it, but I'll admit there are days when an extra pair of hands would make a huge difference!

I'm hoping to organise everything on one regular day each week, and we can work around whatever day suits you.

I can't offer payment at the moment – the truth is, I don't get paid either. Every penny goes back into trying to build the project.

What I can promise is the satisfaction of knowing you've helped a local family get the furniture they need at a time when they need it most.

Long term, my aim is to grow Pass It On Rotherham CIC into a sustainable community project that creates paid jobs.

But right now we're still in those early stages, and volunteers are what will help us get there.

If you've got a few hours to spare each week or even once a month

And im kinda ok ya know🤣 we will have a laugh and ill keep you fed and watered 😉

Could you help Pass It On Rotherham CIC?

Do you own, manage or know of an empty warehouse, workshop or commercial unit that's currently standing vacant?

Rather than leaving it empty and paying rates, we'd love the opportunity to discuss using the space on a licence or affordable rental agreement.

We're looking for premises where we can:

Store donated furniture.

Display affordable furniture for local families.

Allow public access a few days each week.

Continue keeping good furniture out of landfill.

If you have a property that could be suitable, or know someone who does, please get in touch.

Even a temporary arrangement could make a huge difference while we continue to grow.

🚨 Washing Machine Needed Urgently 🚨

We're urgently looking for a working washing machine for a local family currently facing cancer treatment.

At a time like this, worrying about how to wash clothes should be the last thing on their minds.

If you've recently upgraded or have a clean, working washing machine sitting unused, we'd love to hear from you. Your donation could make a real difference to a family going through an incredibly difficult time.

Washing machines are one of the items we're asked for most, and they're always in short supply.

We're also keen to hear from any retailers or manufacturers who may have customer returns, ex-display models or graded appliances they would be willing to donate to support local people in need.
