πŸ€” What is the average amount of gas and electric to use in a home over a year? And is yours average?

🧐 It depends! And it's being updated in July (at the same time as the price cap, which is not the same thing but they're very closely linked).

⚑ Basically, the average amount of energy being used over a year is going down, but it doesn't mean that everyone's home is average, and it doesn't mean it costs less.

πŸ‘‡ For anyone interested, there's a good explanation on the Energy UK website, here's a link.

Learn how Ofgem calculates the average domestic consumption data that helps customers understand changes to the energy price cap.

⚑ The energy price cap, announced by Ofgem, changes every three months and it's due to go up in July.

πŸ‘› Energy bills are based on how much energy is used, and how much it costs per unit. The price cap is the maximum that can be charged for each unit of energy, i.e. each kWh (kilowatt-hour) of gas and electricity.

πŸ•΅οΈ If you're already on a fixed tariff with your energy provider, then yours will stay the same until the tariff ends.

πŸ€” If you're not on a fixed tariff with your energy provider, or it's about to end, then the cost of your gas and electricity will go up in July, so now would be a good time to set one up.

⏰ If you live in Rossendale and need help with this then send us a message or give us a ring and one of us will get in touch.

The price most households pay for gas and electricity will rise by 13% on average from Wednesday 1 July as energy regulator Ofgem has announced the latest Energy Price Cap rates. Martin Lewis and MoneySavingExpert.com explains what this means for you.
