We are a Herefordshire based charity providing therapeutic horticulture for people with disabilities, mental health challenges, or those who are socially isolated. We hope to create community gardens in the UK to support early food, farming and health education in schools, and to promote therapeutic healing for those suffering from learning disabilities and mental health issues.

A huge thank you to Katy, Sharon, Ben and Claire from PGL Adventures for spending yesterday with us in the garden at Ross. They rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into everything, from pulling out some impressively large bramble roots and weeding borders, to mowing, strimming, working through the A-Z beds and polytunnels and potting up cosmos.

We're really grateful for all your hard work - it was lovely to have you with us and you've made a real difference πŸ‘πŸŒ±πŸ™β˜ΊοΈ

Willow is the plant that keeps on giving. We grow it in the garden at Ross, harvest it and then use to make useful things like these fantastic plant supports. And it just keeps on growing (as Steve will vouch, having given one of our willow hedges a tidy haircut!)πŸŒΏβœ‚οΈ

"To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." (Audrey Hepburn)

There is pure magic in planting a seed, watching how a tiny dry speck awakens with water, warmth and light, stretching its roots downward and unfurl its fresh leaves towards the sun. It's a timeless wonder to observe every single year for every age in life. And how amazing that we can take an active part in this.

Since the very beginning of spring children and their families come to the Community Garden in Ross on Wye every Tuesday, 3:30 till 5. And indeed - we planted LOTS of seeds: lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, pumpkins sweetcorn, flowers, potatoes, carrots and beetroot. And all those seeds showed us the magic of germination. Last week we carefully planted out our final plants. And the magic continues when we hear children (and adults) come to the garden and say in surprise "Look how much the sweetcorn has grown!". We will continue to water and watch, play and make, until the time will come to harvest the fruit (and vegetables) πŸ₯°πŸ“πŸŒ½πŸ₯’πŸ₯•πŸ…πŸ«›

Sycamore Class from Ashfield Park Primary School and Nursery had a lovely morning at the Community Garden in Ross.

Our regular school visits offer a great opportunity to step out of the classroom and learn about growing food, life cycles, wildlife friendly gardens and biodiversity, healthy living, and much more. Things that children learn in books come to life and the hands-on experience is empowering children to create positive impact. And most of all - it's fun!

Schoolvisits are free. If you are interested, please get in touch with Kris: [email protected]

What a busy afternoon in the Community Garden in Ross during our Family Drop-in: we planted our beans and took lavender cuttings. We also made a new home for our growing tadpoles - they now have got 2 legs! And most exciting of all: we harvested our first strawberries and sugar snap peas. What can be more delicious and nourishing than the food we have grown ourselves!?

Every Tuesday, from 3:30 till 5, the Community Garden is open to all families. The garden offers a safe space for children (big and small) to explore and play, get creative, sow seeds, tend their seedlings, watch them grow and harvest their fruit, roll down hills, feel the grass under their feet and the sky above. The adults can pause for a moment, enjoy a cup of tea and a chat, and connect with the children and other grown ups through meaningful activity.

We are here and looking forward to seeing all faces, old and new, in the garden again next week!
