The Royal British Legion Band & Corps of Drums Romford

The Royal British Legion Band & Corps Of Drums Romford are a non-profit youth marching band based in Romford, Essex.

In 2022, the band will celebrate it's 70th anniversary. In 2009 the band competed in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade and won two Gold diploma awards whilst representing the United Kingdom. This now leaves the band with a total of 10 World Titles awarded since first competing on the World stage in 1993. The band has enjoyed success over the last 15 years, and were also the first band ever to pe

rform a clean sweep in the 2006 TYMBA contests, by winning every single trophy on offer and thus claiming the title "Supreme Champions". More recently, the Band has had the honour of performing across Europe representing Great Britain at various events, including St. Petersburg Regatta, (Russia - 2011), Ville-le-Grand Tattoo (Switzerland - 2011), Birmingham Tattoo (UK - 2012), Sweden Tattoo (Malmö - 2013) and Berlin Tattoo (Germany - 2013). The Band's television presence in the UK has become more widespread, by working with both the BBC (Sports Relief - 2012) and ITV (This Morning Royal Wedding Special - 2011). The Band was founded in 1952 by Mr Peter Richardson B.E.M and is one of the longest-running independent youth bands in this country today, membership is usually 70+. They were the first youth band to appear at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and have performed alongside almost every band of Her Majesty's Armed Forces at many different military events both in the UK and abroad.

🌈 A Different Kind of Rehearsal! 🌈🌦️

What a difference a week makes! Last Thursday we were enjoying glorious sunshine, but this week our rehearsal took place under much greyer skies with a fair amount of rain thrown in for good measure.

As the rain eased, we were treated to a beautiful rainbow stretching across the sky, a timely reminder that even when the weather isn’t perfect, something special can still appear.

With just a few weeks to go until , it felt quite fitting. Like the colours of a rainbow coming together to create something impressive, every member of the band and Corps of Drums plays their part in creating something much bigger than themselves. Different ages, different experiences, one shared goal.

Rain or shine, the hard work continues as we prepare to represent the band at London Band Week. 🌈🎺🥁

Another evening of rehearsals complete as preparations for London Band Week continue 🇬🇧🥁🎺

Tonight the band headed out onto the park to continue working on marching formations, spacing, drill movements and parade discipline as the sun set around us 🌅

🇬🇧🎶 St George’s Day in Romford – what a day! 🎶🇬🇧

We were so proud to be out on parade in our hometown of Romford today, celebrating St George’s Day with the local community ❤️

Marching through the market, the band brought the streets to life with a mix of traditional marches and upbeat favourites and the atmosphere was just incredible! From smiling faces to people stopping to listen and cheer us on, it really reminded us what banding is all about 🙌

We wrapped things up in true British style with Land of Hope and Glory and the National Anthem 🇬🇧 a moment that gave us all goosebumps and one we were honoured to share with you all.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support, wave, clap and sing along nothing beats performing at home 💙

Tomorrow, one of our own is taking on the incredible challenge of the Brighton Marathon 2026 – a full 26.2 miles along Brighton’s iconic seafront and city streets! 🌊💪
