There is definitely botulism in the lake which is having a serious impact on birds with several dying. Please DON'T throw any food into the lake, allow dogs to drink from it, allow children to touch the water and please don't attempt to retrieve any dead or dying birds. Instead please contact the council via [email protected] or phone 01708 434343 or 01708 433999 outside normal hours

Reminder that the next Friends Public meeting will take place tomorrow, Monday 27th July from 7.30pm. It will be held in the Lodge building , close to the Main Road entrance of Raphael Park.

Following the article posted yesterday relating to a catapult attack on a Swan in Raphael Park we have been in contact with the people who attended and removed the swans. No evidence of a catapult attack was found and it's believed to be a case of botulism which in part is caused by food being thrown in the lake. Unfortunately both of the swans have died along with several geese. As previously requested on a number of occasions PLEASE DO NOT throw food into the lake.

A reminder that there are public toilets in the Lodge building next to CREM restaurant. They are yours to use so please don't be put off by the screen that's been placed in front of them presumably by the restaurant. Unfortunately they are only open when the restaurant is open.

You may have seen a swan being taken away today from Raphael Park. It's been taken to the lake at Harrow Lodge Park by some swan sanctuary volunteers for its own safety. We believe it was from last year's clutch but unfortunately Dad didn't like her being around and was giving her a hard time! Apparently she's been marked with 2 black dots so should you go to Harrow Lodge Park keep a lookout for her.
