We are delighted to finally be able to share that we have been successful in securing a grant through the Jane Tomlinson Big Charity Giveaway! 🎉
We have been awarded an INCREDIBLE £14,405, which will enable us to run a residential for children and young people with complex additional needs.
This funding will make a HUGE difference—helping us continue to create lasting memories and meaningful experiences for the children and young people we support, while also providing families with a much-needed break.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone at the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, and to all those who support the foundation—your generosity truly does make a difference. 💛

National Volunteers Week 2026 💙✨
Did you know… alongside giving their time at our playschemes and activity days, all of our volunteers also commit to attending full training before working with our children and young people?
From induction and safeguarding, to behaviour and communication sessions, plus regular staff meetings – their dedication goes far beyond the day itself. 🌟
We are so incredibly grateful for every hour they give to ensure our sessions are safe, inclusive, and full of fun.
Thank you for giving your time, your energy, and your hearts to ASAS – we couldn’t do it without you! 💫🙌

☀️ What a magical few days☀️
We had an INCREDIBLE time on our Activity days at Lineham Farm last week! With glorious sunshine, a full programme of fun, and a fantastic group of children and young people who threw themselves into everything on offer, it truly was something special. 💙
From climbing and biking to low ropes, animal care and bushcraft—every moment was packed with adventure! And of course, it wouldn’t be complete without campfires and toasting marshmallows… even in the middle of a heatwave! 🔥🍡
We’re so proud of everyone who took part—you made it unforgettable!

Meet the Team - Team Leaders Edition: Louise (Rainbows) & Yasmin (Sunshines)🌟

These two are absolutely fabulous! You can always count on them to bring the fun, the warmth and the magic for the children and young people🙌🏼

1) What’s the best part of working with your team?
Louise:
Best part of a Team is dedication, commitment and knowing you can allocate any young person to the team in Rainbows.
Every one who shares their time at ASAS deserves the recognition which group they are in which shows so much diversity between team members.

I value you all as workers and nothing breaks us!
The laughs the knowing that I as a TL has all my staffs thoughts and feelings at the front of everything I do!!
This is why I feel so lucky having a dedicated Bunch!

Yasmin:
My team works exceptionally well together and consistently supports one another. Their shared focus on giving our children the best experience drives everything they do. I can always rely on them to be there for the children.

2) Your favourite ASAS memory or moment?
Louise:
My favourite memory and memories are when we as a team are challenged with some young people who find life difficult, but to make a difference with them knowing they want to come back then……..
End up sleeping over on a residential.

Yasmin:
One of my strongest memories is walking into Scheme that first summer, being told I was a leader, and placed with the under‑8s. I met three little girls who loved nothing more than listening to the music and bouncing around it in a circle. Two of those girls I went on to work closely with for many summers, and I still work with one of them now - 26 years later. The other remains in my thoughts and prayers always. They taught me so much.

3) If you could instantly master any skill, what would you choose?
Louise:
The thing I would like to Master most is believing in me!!
Not taking things personally oh, and to slow down!

Yasmin:
The skill I’d really love to master is sign language. I’ve learned lots of signs and improved over the years, but the level I use is still pretty basic.

Also, another skill is becoming invisible when a camera is pointing at me...😆
..Thanks Louise and Yasmin for everything you do and ALL your years of commitment 🥰

Throwback Thursday🥰
I’ve been deep in the archives this week and uncovered some absolute gems 🤩 We’ve always loved a fancy dress moment at ASAS… and let’s be honest, there was definitely a lot more of it in the early days!
So… who thinks we should bring the costumes back for this year’s summer playscheme?! 🎭✨👇

🌟Meet The Team - Deputy Team Leaders Edition: Emily (Sunshines) & Beth (Rainbows)🌟

These two are our AMAZING Deputy Team Leaders, supporting the Team Leaders with the smooth running of trips and sessions across Playscheme. They are two absolute breaths of fresh air and are amazing at what they do🥹

1) What’s one thing you think is essential for creating a positive, supportive session for our children and young people?

Emily:
Being patient and responsive to their needs. If there is something they want to do, we will make it happen.

Beth:
Finding their joy, planning activities that you know the children will love, including their special interests where positive. A favourite memory is setting up Mama Mia Karaoke on residential for the girls who were there to have the best time.

2) What’s something that always makes you smile at scheme?

Emily:
The joyful chaos! Sharing new and different experiences with the wonderful young people we support.

Beth:
Our children trying something new for the first time whether it's climbing at lineham farm or holding an exotic animal with lion learners, seeing the children's pride in doing something for the first time.

3) If you had to pick a theme song for your life, what would it be?

Emily:
You’ve Got a Friend in Me 🤠🚀

Beth:
Life is a Highway 🚗🛣️

Thank you both for everything you bring to ASAS! Meet the Team Leaders coming next week🤩
