Our Cub Leader Marie as recognised at a recent awards event for North Yorkshire Scouts

Unsung Hero: Team Player

Marie has been an exceptional team player throughout her time in scouting so far. Stepping in post-COVID to help restart our Cub section — with no previous Scouting knowledge at all — Marie threw herself into the role with enthusiasm, humility, and a determination to give young people the opportunities they had missed. Marie consistently delivers engaging, meaningful sessions for our Cubs, bringing energy, creativity, and warmth to every meeting. She is always ready to step in for other sections — at camps, meetings, or events — often at short notice, always with a smile and a can-do attitude. Her reliability, positivity, and genuine care lift the whole team and make Scouting better for both volunteers and young people alike. Marie is truly indispensable to our group and we are so thankful for all the time she gives to scouting. Her resilience, compassion, and unwavering teamwork embody the very best of what Scouting stands for.

🚨✨ NEW BADGE ALERT ✨🚨

We’re excited to introduce a brand new badge launching this year…

😴 The “Early Night” Badge 😴

To earn it, Scouts must successfully:
🛏️ Be in their sleeping bag by lights out
🤫 Stay quiet after bedtime
📵 Avoid “just one more chat” with their mates
🌙 And actually fall asleep within a reasonable amount of time

Bonus recognition available for anyone who doesn’t say:
👉 “I’m not even tired”
👉 “What was that noise?”
👉 “Can I have a drink?”

We’re told this is one of the most challenging badges we’ve ever introduced…

Think anyone will manage it? 😄👇

Thanks to their donation of new high-vis jackets, our young people can stay safer and more visible during hikes and when we’re out and about in the community. 🥾🦺

🐾 Welcome to the Pack, Bagheera! 🐾

Tonight, we were delighted to officially welcome Gabriella (Bagheera) as our new Cub Leader! 🎉
She was invested by our Cubs in true Scouting style — a special moment for both Gabriella and the pack.

We’re so lucky to have her join our team, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and plenty of adventure to our Cubs! 💚

🌟 A huge thank you to The Richmond Duck Club 🌟

We are incredibly grateful for their very kind donation, which will help us purchase new tents. This means we can offer even more camping opportunities and increase capacity for all of our young people across Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. 🏕️✨

Their generosity will make a real difference and allow more of our members to enjoy the adventures and memories that camping brings. 💚

Tonight our Cubs and Beavers learnt the importance of being safe around Water. We finished the evening by laying flowers for the young person who sadly lost their life at the falls this summer.
