We recently presented our wonderful TCS London Marathon runners with their certificates, to thank them for their fundraising efforts on our behalf. They really have blown us away - thank you Mark, Adrian, Jo, Chris and Arthur - we could not be more grateful for your dedication in raising over £23,000 for us! Absolutely amazing!

There's still a few weeks left to apply for one of our coveted charity bond places for the 2027 TCS London marathon (deadline is 31st July 2026) - just visit our website at: https://mycancermychoices.org/tcs-london-marathon-2027/

So here are some more photos from last week's Volunteers' Day, which seems so long ago already!

The first photographs are of our wonderful Meeter Greeter Sarah (with our Therapies Manager Katie); and also one of our fabulous acupuncturist Katy - Sarah and Katy have given us five wonderful years of their time and dedication - they weren't able to make Volunteers' day so we had our own mini-presentation in the office, during a short break in their MCMC duties! Thank you so much Sarah and Katy!

Huge congratulations and thank you to everyone who was presented with a 1, 5 or 10 year Long Service Award last week - your time, energy and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated!

Also congratulations to the Lego-building winners from the Day; thank you again to all the speakers and thank you all for joining in so well with all our discussions and coming up with so many brilliant ideas!

Until next year!!

A huge thank you to the team from who are taking on an incredible fundraising challenge in support of our charity!

Meet Kiran, Jamie, Angie and Dan, who are among a larger group of SSEN staff bravely hiking Snowdon on Saturday 13 June to raise money for us. We are incredibly grateful for their support and excited to follow their journey as they take on this fantastic challenge.

If you are able to make a donation, no matter how big or small, it would mean so much. Your support will help motivate the team during their preparations and enable us to continue providing vital therapies for people affected by cancer.

You can donate via their JustGiving page here:

https://www.justgiving.com/page/amelia-ellis-1

We'll be sharing photos and updates from the trek after the event, so watch this space!

Good luck to everyone at the SSEN team, and thank you once again for choosing to support us through this amazing fundraising effort.

Thank you all for your support.

Introducing one of our Volunteer Trustees Bep Sandhu:

Bep came to some of our Art Therapy classes during summer 2022, from which she drew great strength during her own cancer treatment. Shortly after walking the runway at our very special annual fashion show in September 2023, Bep became a volunteer fundraiser for us, supporting a range of our events and championing our work. And just this year, Bep became one of our trustees. Bep's journey from service user to fundraising volunteer to trustee is very special - and she has this to say about volunteering for us:

"One of the most affirming things has been hearing how other volunteers found their way to MCMC. Everyone’s story is different, but there’s a common thread of compassion, community, and a desire to support others through what can be such an isolating time. While that’s not surprising, it’s deeply encouraging – a reminder that we are part of something good and grounded in shared values. For me, volunteering with MCMC is about connection, alignment, and heart. I feel truly supported by the team, and I know that the work we do – whether we’re organising an event, offering therapies, or just listening – matters. It reinforces something I hold close: that creating safe, compassionate spaces for people on a cancer journey is not just important, it’s essential. I’m proud to be part of a charity that leads with empathy and puts people at the centre of everything it does."

Well, we couldn't have put it better ourselves! Thank you so much Bep and all our wonderful volunteers.

Last week was Volunteers' Week (more photos to come of Volunteers' Day later!)
If you or anyone you know would like to join our fabulous community of volunteer therapists, fundraisers or Trustees, please do get in touch via our website or at [email protected] - we would love to hear from you.

Huge thanks to everyone who came, who helped make it happen, the staff team and to our brilliant speakers Emma and Mark from the NHS, our service user Mark, and Shelina Prabatani.

It really was a very special day. More pictures will follow next week so watch this space!

Introducing Susan, who has been one of our wonderful volunteer therapists since 2022. Susan is an oncology and scar tissue massage therapist and really values being able to make such a positive difference to the wellbeing of the people living with cancer that she treats.

During this Volunteers' Week, we want to thank all of our wonderful volunteers for the vital contribution they are making to the lives of people living with cancer in Berkshire.

We are seeking more qualified therapists, as well as other very valuable volunteers, including fundraisers and a new Trustee for the charity. If you or anyone you know may have the time and compassion to join us, we would love to hear from you. Please do share this with anyone who may be interested.

You can see more and contact us via our website at www.mycancermychoices.org or email [email protected]

Thank you Susan Martin Soft Tissue Therapy and all of our fabulous volunteers, we couldn't offer what we do without each and every one of you.

It's National Volunteer Week this week, so here is a little bit about the charity that I support:

I started volunteering for My Cancer My Choices in January 2022. This charity has a number of treatment points in Berkshire and I work out of our main hub in Charvil.
For over ten years this charity has been offering complimentary therapies to anyone going through their cancer treatment in this area. Therapies include Oncology massage, Scar massage, Reflexology and Acupuncture. All provided for free in an comfortable and supportive environment.

If you are looking for a charity to support in any fundraising event, this is a good one.
If you are a therapist who could volunteer some time to help us, please get in touch.
