CAFOD Harvest Fast Day Appeal

Please donate to our Family Fast Day parish collection this weekend. Put your faith into action and share the Lord’s love by supporting our global neighbours experiencing shortages of food and safe water. Your gift can support children, like Tayla in Zimbabwe, to stay in school - by helping communities and schools improve their access to water, grow food in school gardens and provide nourishing meals,

HOW to donate: use the CAFOD envelope in church or donate online at cafod.org.uk/envelope or tap your card on the parish dona machine or call 0303 303 3030. Please gift aid if you can. THANK YOU for your generosity.

In God's eyes, we are one global family, called to be neighbours. Give today and put your faith into action by giving children like Tayla in Zimbabwe the water and nutritious food they need to learn.

CAFOD Debt Crisis petition - THANK YOU to all who added their names at our signing after Masses last weekend - 156 in all! These will be added to the national petition asking our government to act by passing a Debt Justice law and using their influence when hosting the G20 in 2027. You can still add your name online

CAFOD
Last summer, many of us signed a global church petition to spotlight the issue of the Debt Crisis which is causing terrible suffering for our sisters and brothers around the world. At the end of Masses this weekend, 27th/28th June, we will be collecting signatures for a follow-up petition to send to our government to encourage further action - asking them to pass a Debt Justice law (as the City of London has a pivotal role in the financial sector) and to use their influence when hosting the G20 in 2027. Please see https://cafod.org.uk/campaign/the-global-debt-crisis or our noticeboard in the Keenan Rooms for further details

We are facing the most acute global debt crisis in history and it's the world's poorest countries who are the worst affected. Urgent action is needed to stop its devastating effects.

A Million Acts of Hope- 13th-20th May - Many charities (including CAFOD), faith groups and communities have come together to show that "HOPE is LOUDER than hate" in our society by acknowledging acts of hope and kindness. We are encouraged to carry out one or two of our own. For example: donating a fairly-trade item to our local food bank (supporting the people who grow the food and the people in the UK who need it most), helping in Christian Aid week by attending the coffee morning at St Paul's on Saturday 16th May or donating to the Corpus Christi bric a brac stall, supporting the CAFOD Sudan Appeal, taking steps to reduce our waste or use of fossil fuels or doing something of our own choice.

In May 2026, community and faith groups, plus charities big and small, will come together to celebrate and inspire A Million Acts of Hope across Britain. There is far more that connects us than divides us.

Laudato Si' week - 17th-24th May is a worldwide celebration of prayer, reflection and action for our Common Home, commemorating the anniversary of Pope Francis's historic encyclical on the Care of Creation in 2015. This year's theme is From Hope to Action. We are called to be part of the Church's response by choosing our own appropriate action to act with our fellow Catholics in listening and responding to the Cry of the Earth and the Poor.

CAFOD Lent Walk

A BIG THANKYOU to our parish Youth Group who walked 1,053.6km and their sponsors. They raised £1,541!

AND THANKYOU to our 3 (more mature) Walking Women, Ann, Kathy and Maureen, who walked 400km between them and raised £670 from sponsors - congratulations.

Funds raised will be used by CAFOD to help bring clean, safe water to communities around the world. Perhaps more parishioners will be tempted to take up the challenge in Lent next year...
