What an incredible night we had last night at the 'Dying To Know' event at Pangbourne Club. Four local speakers talking honestly and openly about all aspects of death, funerals, planning, will writing and end of life care and choices.

We met some wonderful people and had some fantastic conversations. It was wonderful to have a table in the room and to tell people all about our quarterly Death Cafe in Reading and also our regular Walk & Talk events for bereaved people.

Thanks to Claire Vickery - All Your Love Celebrant for or organising this brilliant event and to everyone that came along to embrace the often difficult topics of death, dying and end of life 🙏🏼.

We're really excited to be going along to this on Tuesday evening. We'll also get a chance to tell people all about our Death Café and Walk & Talk for bereaved people events. See you there!

I’m hosting something a little different…

It’s called ‘Dying to Know’ - a relaxed, informative, community-led evening where we’ll be talking about what actually happens when someone dies.

Not just funerals, but the decisions, the options, and the things most people don’t realise they can choose.

Because the truth is, I hear the same thing again and again:
“I didn’t know we could do that.”

And often, that realisation comes at the hardest possible time.

So this is about changing that - gently, openly, and without any pressure.

I’ll be there alongside a local, independent funeral director and an estate planning expert, so between us we’ll uncover far more than most people ever get told.

📅 Tuesday 19 May
⏰ 6:30pm
📍 Pangbourne Club (formerly Pangbourne Working Men’s Club)
🎟️ Free

If it’s something you’ve ever been even slightly curious about, you’d be very welcome.

Huge thanks to Pangbourne Club for generously hosting this community event, and to Tomalin & Son Funeral Director and Kept Assets for co-hosting.

Next week is the start of Dying Matters Awareness Week (4th - 10th May) and this year's theme is 'Let's talk about death and dying'.

What better way to get involved than to come along to our Death Café on Wednesday 6th May 18:30 - 20:00 at RISC Meeting Rooms, 35-39 London St, Reading RG1 4PS.

It's a place where you can talk openly and freely about all things related to death and dying over a cuppa ☕ and a piece of cake 🍰. There's no agenda and after a short introduction of your name and what brought you to the meetup (if you wish to share) we just let the conversation flow. There's no pressure to talk, you can always just listen.

It's free to attend and is open to anyone over the age of 16. We'd love for you to join us!
