Yesterday April 29th 2026 in G.S Mabeta, Limbe, Cameroon, a vision was brought to life. In celebration of Salomeโ€™s birthday, carried out an outreach on .

The session was led by the head teacher, the pastor, midwives Caroline Chris and Zenab, alongside women in the community, and our incredible pupils - both girls and boys. Watching the children engage and receive such valuable knowledge from passionate, skilled practitioners was deeply inspiring.

Why are we Educating young boys As well?

Educating both girls and boys about menstruation helps create understanding and respect.

When boys are informed, they are less likely to tease or stigmatize girls and more likely to be supportive. This reduces shame, promotes empathy, and creates a safe, inclusive school environment where girls can feel comfortable and confident during their periods.

Importance of Menstrual Hygiene Awareness:

Prevents Infections and Health Issues
Poor menstrual hygiene can lead to urinary tract infections, reproductive tract infections, and skin irritations. Educating girls early helps them adopt safe practices like changing pads regularly and proper washing.

Promotes School Attendance
Many girls in vulnerable communities miss school during their periods due to lack of knowledge, embarrassment, or inadequate facilities. Awareness helps reduce absenteeism and keeps girls in school.

Reduces Stigma and Taboos
Menstruation is often surrounded by cultural myths and shame. Teaching girls (and boys) about periods helps normalize menstruation, reducing teasing, stigma, and gender discrimination.

Empowers Girls
Knowledge about menstrual hygiene improves self-confidence, dignity, and personal care, enabling girls to participate fully in school, social, and community life.

Christmas may be over, but our commitment to support vulnerable people in Anglophone Cameroon continues. This Sunday 28th December, Salome's Ark is supporting 22 very sick & vulnerable elderly people with verified medical diagnoses who are struggling to meet up. We aim to assist them with their medical bills and treatment. Nothing is too small, our goal is atleast half a million (500.000frs) and we're at 400.000frs already. If you can, please consider donating, it'll only help us to increase how much we can support each person, thereโ€™s still time. God bless you.

While many of us prepare for the festivities, shopping food, clothes, gifts etc, some people are fighting for their lives. Their needs go beyond celebrations, they need support with medical bills & medication for treatment.
