I nearly didn’t go to the allotment today, thought I’d get soaked! But look what we might have missed if we hadn’t gone, 2kg of strawberries for Radcooks! 🍓🍓🍓

It's Volunteers' Week and we'd like to say a BIG thank you to all our volunteers, past and present, who have made the community garden what it is - from an overgrown plot to a thriving space growing organic fruit and vegetables for our local community. 💪

We really do appreciate everyone who gives up their time - especially when it's in the rain, snow and, increasingly, heatwaves - to support us. We hope we repay you in new skills, friendly conversation and cake. 🍰

📢 BUT - we really need more people to help!

It's a very busy time of year and we're finding it difficult to keep up with all the planting, watering and weeding needed for a successful growing season, never mind the general maintenance of the plots. 🌱

Volunteering with us is very flexible, we have weekend and weekday sessions at our Leesbarn Allotments plot - the first and third Saturday of every month 9.30 - 11.30am and often Tuesday mornings - and increasingly we're popping down there on the occasional evening while it's warm and light.

So hopefully there's a suitable time if you're thinking of coming along but haven't made it yet.

Please do message us about popping by to say hello and learn more about what we do. There are jobs for all ages and abilities.

We'll be there this Saturday from 9.30am and we'd welcome some new faces! 👋

I can never quite decide what I love most in our garden, the wild flowers growing round the pond to promote biodiversity in our garden or the tidy uniformity of seedlings just planted out and the frame built waiting for the beans to grow!

Can you spare an hour to help us look our best for Radcliffe in Bloom? We've been so busy planting and seed sowing, the weeds have taken over the community garden! We'll be at Lees Barn Road allotments from 9.30am this Saturday, if you can pop along to lend a hand, we'd really appreciate it 🫶

✨Volunteer spotlight✨

Meet Annie, who joined us in January 2025. 👋

Annie says:

I joined because I had recently moved to the area from a house with a large garden to a small garden with no space to grow fruit and veg. Joining the community garden gave me the opportunity to get my hands dirty, exercise in the fresh air and meet new people.

It has fulfilled all my expectations meeting a lovely bunch of like- minded people while digging and planting and then later over a cuppa and cake.

🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱

If you'd also like to meet a lovely bunch of people over digging, planting, tea and cake, join us this Saturday (16th May) at Lees Barn Road allotments from 9.30 - 11.30am 🌿🍰
