Three staff from Kingsland Primary school in Wakefield led an interesting and informative workshop after the YAMSEN AGM last night.
We enjoyed taking part in their practical musical activities exploring how they implement the Sounds of Intent framework in their school.

YAMSEN AGM and WORKSHOP tomorrow evening.

We’re looking forward to hearing how the team from Kingsland school have increased musical activities across their school using approaches developed by Sounds of Intent. It will be an inspiring practical music workshop with ideas we can all use in the future.

Please see below for info and drop Hannah an email if you'd like to come along ([email protected]) - hope to see you there!

Yesterday Diane the secretary and Anne the treasurer of YAMSEN were delighted to go to a garden party at Buckingham Palace as representatives of all our wonderful volunteers. They met people from other charities across the country and were delighted to be asked to talk to the Duke of Gloucester. They did see the King in the distance. It was a lovely occasion.

On Friday morning at the YAM Spring concert we were presented with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service by The Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire. It was a really joyful celebration of all the work the volunteers do in support of the children and adults that YAMSEN reaches.

Great to see the good work going on at Kingsland School.

We were so thrilled to be able to visit Kingsland Primary School the week before last. Based in Wakefield, this school is a wonderful example of Sounds of Intent in action - in the early stages. The school also participated in our pilot scheme for our soon-to-be-launched Sounds of Intent School Awards and, we are proud to say, has successfully achieved their bronze award.

To hear more about Headteacher Amy Johnston’s experience implementing inclusive music making, check out our Youtube (youtube.com/soundsofintent) and visit the Webinar we released about the school awards. Amy gives some more insights there.

Well done Kingland School!
