Our members were horrified to learn that four ambulances were deliberately set alight in Golders Green, London this week.

These ambulances are operated by Jewish paramedics who play a vital role supporting NHS hospitals, people who need emergency care and medical transport for the elderly. This volunteer-run, non-profit organisation has served its local community since 1979.

Hatzola paramedics provide a literal lifeline to North London, and it goes without saying that their volunteers should be able to operate in safety. We condemn this cowardly, antisemitic attack. It follows tragic events at Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester last year, where Jewish worshippers were targeted on Yom Kippur.

Despite this frightening incident, one of Hatzola's senior paramedics, Yossi Pincus, stated yesterday "We're still responding and we're still available for those that need us."

We stand in solidarity with the Jewish community in Golders Green, and all those affected by this attack.

To help Hatzola continue their life-saving work, you can donate to their organisation here:

TW: Male violence against women

Stand Up To Racism Preston & South Ribble were appalled to learn of a post shared by Lancashire County Council deputy leader Councillor Simon Evans earlier this week.

The post, by a user named Malcolm Bulmer, called MP Natalie Fleet a ‘dozy cow’ and said that she ‘should be shot’.

https://lancashire.thelead.uk/p/lancashire-county-council-reform-uk-deputy-leader-simon-evans-natalie-fleet-social-media-post-grooming-gangs

We condemn this vile content, Councillor Evans’ repost and his subsequent statement where he claimed sharing this post was a ‘genuine mistake’ that ‘we can all make from time to time’.

All content by our elected representatives should be created and shared with compassion and intention, particularly when the subject is as serious as male violence against women. Fighting for women’s safety, as Councillor Evans claims to do ‘tirelessly’, means centring women’s voices, not carelessly sharing posts which belittle and threaten them.

MP Natalie Fleet has bravely spoken about her own experiences of surviving male violence, and now works to protect other women and girls. We can only imagine how frightening and upsetting this post was for her and her family.

We were also horrified to learn that Councillor Evans’ party Reform UK will be taking no action against him. If Reform UK are genuine about tackling male violence against women, at the very least they must ensure their own MPs face consequences when their actions do direct harm.

Amid rising misogyny on social media platforms, this is a time for leadership and accountability from our elected officials. We urge everyone to take the safety of women in public offices seriously.
2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the assassination of MP Jo Cox, who championed the rights of women and children in her lifetime.

The Jo Cox Foundation continues her legacy and you can learn more about its vital work to make politics safer here: https://www.jocoxfoundation.org/our-work/respectful-politics/
