Hi everyone,
Please note that until further notice we will be complying with the no fires advisory from the UK Govt and Scouts HQ. This applies to all naked flames so no burners, burcos or altar fires. There are also fire blankets and an extinguisher on site should they be needed. Being Lancashire this shouldn't last for long and Im sure all you resourceful scouts will find plenty of ways of having fun on the field without fire.

Today marked an exciting new chapter for the George Platt Activity Field as we officially broke ground on a project that will deliver significant benefits for young people across Chorley for generations to come.

We were delighted to welcome more than 50 Scout leaders together with the Mayor and Consort, Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP, Tim Knowles from FI Estates, and Frank McGinty from LEF, whose organisations have made major contributions to helping turn this vision into reality.

This investment represents so much more than improvements to a field. It will create new opportunities for Scouts and other youth groups to enjoy outdoor activities, develop life skills, and deepen their understanding of conservation, ecology, and the natural environment.

The project will provide a valuable community resource where young people can learn, explore, and connect with nature while helping to protect and enhance local biodiversity.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the project so far. We look forward to seeing the George Platt Activity Field become a thriving hub for youth activities, environmental learning, and outdoor adventure within Chorley.
Thankyou to all the scouters and supporters who attended what would we be without you.

🌱 A Place to Belong. Built by Our Community. 🌱

This Saturday at 10am, we'll be taking the next step towards an exciting future for young people across Chorley as we break ground on our new building at the George Platt Activity Field.

We're delighted to welcome Sir Lindsay Hoyle, President of Chorley District Scouts, and The Mayor of Chorley, Councillor Debra Platt and her Consort Councillor Alan Platt who will join us for this special occasion. We will also welcome on to the field for his first visit Tim Knowles of FI Property Group.

This isn't just the start of a new building.

It's the start of a space where young people can learn, grow, make friends, discover new adventures and find a place where they truly belong. A place where skills for life are developed every week through fun, friendship, challenge and community.

This project has only been possible because of the incredible support we've received from so many organisations and individuals. We'd like to thank:

⭐ Lancashire Environmental Fund
⭐ FI Property Group
⭐ Amey
⭐ Octavius Infrastructure
⭐ Tyla Services
⭐ Multipave

for their generosity, expertise, encouragement and practical support in helping turn this vision into reality.

We'd love to see Scouts, Explorers, Network members, leaders, volunteers, parents, carers and supporters from across the District join us to celebrate this important milestone.
