A huge congratulations to all King’s Scouts celebrated at Windsor today — a remarkable achievement that reflects years of commitment, service, and determination.

We’re especially proud here in Chorley to celebrate Jonathan Brocken , pictured today, who achieved his King’s Scout Award and is a valued and familiar face at Chorley District Scouts George Platt Activity Field , Jonathan is a key member of our volunteer team and continues to give back locally, supporting activities, helping maintain and improve the field, and contributing countless hours to projects that benefit young people across the borough.
Jonathan is also completing his Scout of the World Award here at George Platt Activity Field this year — a great example of how international values, community action, and local impact come together right here in Chorley.

At George Platt Activity Field, we’re proud to support young people working towards their Top Awards, whether through Scouting or the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. From volunteering and service opportunities to practical, hands-on projects, the field offers meaningful ways to build skills, confidence, leadership, and teamwork — all while making a real difference in our local community.

However you choose to complete YOUR award, George Platt Activity Field is here to support you.

Well done Jonathan — and to everyone celebrated at Windsor today — be proud of what you’ve achieved, enjoy the moment, and carry those memories and values forward.

Lots of work going on behind the scenes. Running water to be installed soon and our permanent building is moving through planning permission approval. Spring is in the air down on the field. We'll be there this Saturday if anybody wants to come down to help with some of the tasks. Or just come and have a brew and look around at what we can do for your group.

🌿 Good Morning Leaders! The New Season at George Platt Activity Field Has Begun! 🌿
We’re excited to share that the new season is well underway down at your activity field — and several Scout groups have already been making the most of the space for evening activities!
We’ve now updated our Maintenance Plan, and a number of new projects have been added. You can view it here to see the kinds of jobs and improvements we’ll be working on over the coming months.
This is a brilliant opportunity to bring your young people down and get them hands‑on with real conservation tasks, practical skills, and fun outdoor projects. It’s your field — let’s make the most of it together!
Later this year, we’ll also be running a series of organised Service Days, similar to last year’s fantastic hedge and tree‑planting sessions. Keep an eye out for dates.
🌱 Can You Lend a Hand Now?
In the meantime, we would really welcome volunteers to help with the early‑season clean‑up after the winter. Whether you can spare an hour or an evening, every bit of help makes a huge difference.
📞 To get involved, give Andy Lewis a call on 07846 634451.
