It’s Carers Week!🩵

This year’s theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities, is a cause that is deeply important to us at the Foundation.

Creating supportive environments for carers starts close to home. Through our Small Grants programmes, we support CareTech Ltd colleagues, service users and the communities around them. We strive to build workplaces where carers feel recognised, valued and supported.

We are also proud to invest in initiatives across the UK and internationally that strengthen support for carers through Partnership Grants:

⭐The Children's Society- funding the Young Carers Festival, helping young carers have fun and build a sense of community.

⭐Access Social Care- funding an innovative legal chatbot to help carers understand their legal rights.

⭐Carers Worldwide- supporting unpaid carers in Bangladesh to improve their health, wellbeing and economic opportunities.

⭐ The Open University- providing educational opportunities for unpaid carers through a dedicated scholarship fund.

Carers play a vital role in families and communities every day. This Carers Week, we celebrate their contribution and reaffirm our commitment to supporting initiatives that help carers thrive.

Together, we can build communities where every carer feels supported and empowered.

It’s Carers Week!

We are delighted to share that we have awarded a Community Grant of £2,500 to Charity for Civil Servants, sponsoring their inspirational Carers Week 2026 webinar series.

For 140 years, Charity for Civil Servants has supported current, former and retired civil servants and their dependents. They provide financial assistance, practical guidance and wellbeing support when life becomes challenging. Remarkably, 1 in 10 civil servants will turn to the charity for help at some point in their lives.

This Carers Week, the charity is launching its first ever week-long programme of expert-led webinars, designed to support people with caring responsibilities. The series will bring together specialists from a range of organisations to share valuable insights and practical advice on topics including:

⭐maintaining wellbeing,

⭐supporting someone experiencing cognitive decline,

⭐navigating bereavement,

⭐managing relationships while caring.

These sessions aim to help carers feel better equipped, more connected and supported in their role.

We are proud to support this important initiative, which will make a meaningful difference to carers across the civil service community and beyond.

We were delighted to attend the Better Society Awards following our shortlisting for the Commitment to our Local Community Award.

The evening was a wonderful celebration of the positive impact created by commercial companies who are helping create a better, more equal, ethical and sustainable world for all.

We are incredibly proud of this nomination, which reflects the dedication of the CareTech Foundation team and the continued support of the wider CareTech Ltd community. A special thank you to Oakleaf Group, with whom we were proud to share this recognition.

While we didn’t take home the award on the night, it was an honour to be recognised among so many organisations making a real difference within their communities.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners on the night- and thank you to the Better Society Awards for a fantastic evening. We look forward to continuing to build meaningful and lasting change within our local communities.

Trustee announcement!🩵

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Joshua Barreto as a new Trustee to the CareTech Foundation!

Josh joined the Cambian Group in 2023 and has quickly made a powerful impact within the children’s division. Passionate about improving outcomes for children, he consistently goes above and beyond, working collaboratively with organisations and professionals to overcome barriers and create extraordinary days, every day.

His dedication was recently recognised when he was named the overall Children’s National Winner at the CareTech Awards- an achievement that also earned him a place on the board.
