⭐️ Hampshire News ⭐️

On Sunday 7th June, our senior teams took part in the Inter County Senior Qualifications in Romford, Essex.

It was a tricky day for both teams! However, after a constant battle and some incredible bowling by the men, they qualified for the finals in 3rd place! An incredible achievement and a very nice birthday present for the men’s manager, Alex Russell. “They worked hard and I’m incredibly proud of their efforts! They came together as team, working as one. Maurie also stepping in and delivering when needed in the last game of the day. Comfortable qualification in the end with a lot more to give for the finals.”

The ladies had a very difficult day, again with their own situations too. After speaking to Kerry on the phone she spoke proudly of the team moral when the chips were down. However, they didn’t make it and will now take part in the Shield event in September for a second chance to make the Senior County Finals in October.

Hampshire BTBA would like to extend their congratulations to the men’s team and commiserations to the ladies. However, we are under no doubt that they will give the shield all of their efforts and who knows what could happen!!

SLAT Report from Sunday 17th May by Team Manager - James Winter

Today we attended the 2nd round of this year's SLAT events at Tolworth bowl. We had Ben Bizley making his 2nd appearance, Perry Kingswell and England's Sandra Simmonds playing their first games of the year and Hampshire debuts to Paul Wilmshurst and Liam Yau.

From the first shot in practice it was apparent this was going to be a tricky day. The lanes were incredibly dry and we knew we had 4 games of 5 man ahead with no redress!

Games 1 and 2 Perry lead the way with 190s in both games. Everyone else struggling to find something consistent, or a shot that could make the pocket. Everyone kept plucking away however in the search of a higher game. We came away with a 4th and 5th place and 9pts at the halfway point.

Game 3 and 4 proved much the same with any run of strikes a premium across the league. Paul found something hammering it down the edge and had games of 207 and 226 to bring in the only 2 200 games of the day. Another 4th and 5th place games and 5th for the day

Despite the difficulties everyone remained positive and tried to support eachother throughout the day. Teams around us have now caught up points and we look ahead to the next round at Dunstable in July.
