Election Results, 2012 Unity Council Elections

We have elected four new dynamic members of our community to serve on the Unity Council of the African Community Centers for the next three years. The four successful candidates are Thabiti Anderson, Jihad Cee Allah, Mumbi Stevens and Tenisio "DJ 4th Wurld" Seanima. - Ra Karim-Kincey and Matilda Abena Arhin will serve as alternates for one year and would be in place to fill any vacancies on the Unity Council. Our new Council Members will be formally introduced to the Community at our events in October. They will take their seats on the Unity Council in January 2013.

We take this opportunity to thank all the candidates for their participation. Some of them will no doubt be on next years' ballot.

The vote totals for each candidate is available upon request.

Our Community is to be commended for coming together to make this years' election a massive success. We are learning, through practice, what it takes to "Raise the Village".

They depend on us for their survival, but they have tricked us to think that we need them. We have everything we need to get off the ground. We are the most popular people on the planet, the most populus people on the planet, the world bounces to the rhythem of our drum, we are Gods first people, the parent people of the earth, the closest to the Most High, we were given the most blessed land, and the most blessed bodies. To whom much is given, much is expected. Let us use what we were given to create a new reality based on our Alkebu conscousness . Fight the Uncle Ruckus in you; Foreal. Stop walking round like you are Nobody! Up You Mighty Race! Let The Sleeping Giant Wake! They only have the power we give them. Lets use our power for our own rise, beyond the struggles of this reality, to our own Victorious reality where we have no masters but God and ourselves; where we look up to No man. Candidates Forum (2012) Spread the Word

The election for our next four (4) members to the Unity Council of the African Community Center/Atlanta is set for early September.

*A forum to introduce and get to know the candidates will take place Saturday, August 11, 2012, 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Adams Park Branch Library 2231 Campbellton Road SW, Atlanta GA 30311. Near Delowe Dr., and across street from YMCA - 404-752-8763

Everyone is encouraged to attend this Forum. It's important to meet and get a good feel for each person on the slate for this year. This will be the only opportunity to meet the candidates as a group before the election.

Again, please attend the "Candidates Forum" Saturday, August 11, 2012 3:00-6:00pm at the Adams Park Branch Library.

A list of candidates along with short bios for each will be available at the Forum and voting will start then and end September 8th..

IMPORTANT: Are you qualified to vote?

If not, review the "Blueprint for Functional Unity/Flip Chart" presentation at http://www.unity4power.org/bp.html. If you have problems with the online presentation or do not have access to the Internet, call the Center at 404-344-5454 to arrange for a face-to-face presentation.

With Love and Respect I say, None of us are justified, sitting on the sidelines, complaining about what others are not doing to address the issues facing us as a people. The time is now for YOU to act. 10-10-50 You dont have to join anything but a movement. 10-10-50 is The Economic Empowerment Plan for OUR Community. It asks each of us who is seriously concerned about the plight of our people to donate at a minimum, $10 of your money and 10 hours of your time to an organization that YOU recognize as doing powerful work, to help them push forward the work that YOU see as powerful. And Above and Beyond what you Already spend with African/Black/Alkebu Businessmen and Women, spend $50 with Black businesses. $10, 10 hours, and $50 = 10-10-50, our Economic Empowerment Plan.

Imagine all the organizations and institutions laboring for our upliftment, imagine them with enough volunteers and donations from the community to support the work they do.

SUPCW - VICTORY FORMULA FOR AFRICANS (BLACK) PEOPLE WHO ARE COMMITTED TO SELF DERMINATION S - System (Under Construction) An intergenerational social process and infrastructure dedicated to building and maintaining supportive relationships among our people, including individuals, organizations and our businesses. All with clear intent to build power for Self-Determination. U - Unity (Under Construction) The natural results coming from the existence and purposeful use of these supportive relationships for the purpose of building power for Self-Determination. (Functional Unity) P - Power (Will Occur Naturally) The natural results of a community or people being functionally unified. Any community or people, once sufficiently unified, will naturally do what is required to build and maintain power as a social group. Power here refers to the ability of a people to harness and direct human and material resources in furtherance of group interest. C - Control (Will Occur Naturally) The natural results of a community or people with power. When any community or people have sufficient power, they naturally seek to control the economic, political and cultural life of their community. The quality of their unity and the strength of their power will determine the degree of control gained and maintained. The objective is always total control for the group. W - Welfare (Will Occur Naturally) The natural results of a people with control of the primary social forces of their community. Any community or people who have sufficient control of the economic, political and cultural life of their community will naturally seek to insure the safety and welfare of the group. The safety and welfare of the group, including individuals, institutions and their culture or way of life, is the natural aim of human societies. “This is Victory!” As African (Black) people, we can and will have victory, but only by first constructing a sufficient system and infrastructure dedicated to building and maintaining Functional Unity among our people. In the real world there are only two options for any people, self-rule or subjugation. - If we don't rule ourselves, then... (and you know the answer).

Remember, there are a million problems facing us as a people. Choose a front to fight on and do it to death. Plug your efforts into the Center so that we can all benifit from, contribute to, and be inspired by your effort. With our powers combined, we will be victorious. We dont have time to argue about which war front is the most important to be fighting on, or the right one to be fighting on. Worry about what you are doing to uplift our people and be glad in it. There are enough of us concerned individuals, org.'s and institutions to get the work done. We must connect so that our efforts are magnified.
