Last week, BCHA's Jules, Business Manager for the Plymouth Outreach Teams, was invited to speak at "Our Voices, Our Careers: How Women Progress in Housing" at BLOCK Workspace in Plymouth, an event celebrating local women who have built their careers in the housing sector.

With approximately 58% of social housing customers identifying as female, representation is important when it comes to those working in the various services within the housing industry.

Jules said "I feel really lucky and privileged to work at BCHA. Not just for the fantastic teams, but for the invaluable support I have received. I am proud to work at an organisation that has a strong female influence across the organisation, from our CEO, several members of our directorate and multiple 'Heads of', all of whom champion and support women and their career progression at BCHA."

We're hiring across services in the region. If you're interested in working for a company that supports colleague growth and celebrates our differences, take a look at our vacancies here: https://ow.ly/kAmO50Z11br

BCHA were pleased to attend the opening of Community cafe, EX4, in April. The cafe was opened by Michelin-star chef, Michael Caines, who runs luxury country house hotel Lympstone Manor - Relais & Châteaux, who praised the cost-of-living friendly menu alongside a friendly, welcoming and safe space for those who may be facing isolation.

The cafe, spearheaded by a member of BCHA's Customer Steering Group Dan, has become a beacon of hope within the Exeter community.

Last week marked , and BCHA's services had an action-packed week.

The Mental Health Floating Support team received a visit from Tom Hayes MP for East Bournemouth on Friday, and the Dorchester Community Front Room received a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Dorchester. Both visits highlight the vital importance of offering mental health support throughout our local communities.

Colleagues at BCHA's Hubs - the Factory in Poole and Unity Hub in Plymouth - took part in day, helping to turn the world green for good mental health.

And finally, Millennium House hosted daily activities for customers, highlighting the importance of taking for Mental Health, no matter how small.

BCHA want to say a huge thank you to Sienna, who very generously supported our Family Intervention team with a donation of art and craft supplies.

Sienna reached out to the team after doing a project at university on how children can be affected by domestic abuse.

Charlotte, Family Intervention Worker, said "We are thrilled that Sienna gave such a large donation of thoughtful items after learning about the Family Intervention service. The donation will allow us to provide a creative outlet to the children and young people we support in our community who have been affected by domestic abuse."
