Exeter! The Urban Bike Project (UBP) are hosting adult bike repair popups throughout the summer.

You can find Martin and Jamie at St David's Church Exeter from 10:30am - 12:30pm on the 25th August, and the 1st, 22nd and 29th September.

The project is a great opportunity to bring your bikes along to be cleaned, checked and have simple repairs and services done. Take a look at some of UBP's previous bikes!

The Mental Health Floating Support team have come up with a new wellbeing initiative. Instead of team meetings, the team take turns to run wellbeing sessions for colleagues: no phones and no emails, just some different forms of self-care!

So far, the team have taken part in a coffee and games morning, crafty collage mornings and some time with their inner child with a play in the park.

Georgia, Service Co-Ordinator, said "We all do the job because we want to make a difference to our customers lives but this can take a toll on us and it's important to take the time to work on our own wellbeing and make sure we are not burning out."

George House have officially opened their newly transformed garden, hosting a celebratory barbecue and triathlon.

John, Senior Practitioner for George House, helped to organise the afternoon with Molly, Service Co-ordinator, to thank customers for their hard work in transforming the garden. The event bought together customers, staff members and external organisations to celebrate the opening and admire the vegetable patch, flower beds and newly painted garden furniture.

John gifted customer Harry - who played a large part in the renovations - a watch, saying "Thanks to you, Jason and Fiona for all your hard work you have put in to transform the garden. We are so proud of what you have achieved, and all these people have come out to celebrate you and your hard work."

The George House garden has also planted a new palm tree, hoping to chart the growth of the tree alongside the growth of the team. We can't wait to see customers, the team and the garden flourish.

BCHA and Trevi Women are working in partnership to deliver the new Safe Accommodation Support Service Plymouth. This service, commissioned by Plymouth City Council, will work with local partners to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse, no matter their gender or background.

BCHA and Trevi Women’s partnership brings together complementary expertise. BCHA have significant experience in housing and support services, with a specialism in domestic abuse, working in harmony with Trevi Women’s specialist knowledge of domestic abuse and trauma-informed support. The partnership is grounded in a shared priority – offering safety, dignity and support for victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

The service and accommodation can be accessed through Plymouth City Council and self-referral via Routes to Support. Information is also available on the IDASP (Integrated Domestic Abuse Service Plymouth) website, which you can find here: https://ow.ly/7fZx50ZwRuV

Domestic abuse remains a serious issue in every community. Abuse can take many forms, including physical and emotional abuse, stalking, harassment, coercive control and sexual abuse. If you, or someone you know is struggling with domestic abuse, support is available. Last month, the UK government officially repealed the Vagrancy Act, marking the end of the criminalisation of rough sleeping for the first time since 1824.

What does this mean?

People experiencing homelessness can no longer be arrested, fined or face a criminal record for being forced to sleep on the streets.
Without the threat of being arrested, more people experiencing homelessness will hopefully feel confident to seek help from services.
