October is also Menopause Awareness Month, and it's a conversation that matters to our community too.

For some people living with BRCA and other cancer-risk gene alterations, menopause can happen earlier than expected — sometimes as a result of risk-reducing surgery, or as a result of cancer treatment.

And surgical or treatment-induced menopause can be a very different experience from the menopause you might have been expecting.

So this month, alongside the breast cancer conversations, we're talking about menopause from the BRCA+ perspective.

The symptoms. The decisions. HRT. Body changes. S*x and relationships. The things nobody tells you — and the things we really should be talking about.

Because whether menopause comes as a result of reducing your cancer risk or as part of your cancer treatment, it can bring a whole new set of questions.

Let's talk about those too. 💗

Join us for our next online talk with guest speaker Maddie.

Genetic Counsellor Maddie will talk about the medical side of genetic alterations, all the options, and the big decisions.

There will also be the opportunity to ask questions.

If you have recently discovered your gene mutation and are feeling a little overwhelmed, then this is one not to miss.

Mastectomy Monday

Bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction.

Round/smooth implant under the muscle. 350/375CC (a full C cup). Surgery as part of cancer treatment.

"Whilst I was going through chemotherapy I tested positive for BRCA2. This gave me more options for surgery, to me having a bilateral mastectomy was a no brainer as I didn’t want to give cancer the chance to come back in my breasts.

My surgeon is super talented and he was able to save my ni***es. I was cut underneath, the scars are small and neat.

Having the mastectomy was the best decision I ever made as I have so much peace of mind now. I love my new b***s💗."

We LOVE Hideaway- it's the perfect chilled place to meet for drinks, and is totally on brand. The last meet up went so well and it was great to hear about the connections that were made- it really is what these events are all about. We can't wait to hear how this one goes.

Knowing you're at increased risk is one thing. Knowing what to look and feel for is another.

Whether you have breasts, have had a mastectomy, or are simply getting to know what's normal for you, being familiar with your chest can help you notice changes that are new or unusual.

Look out for things like changes in shape or size, a new lump or thickening, skin or ni**le changes, unusual pain or discharge — and anything else that feels different for you.

Know your normal. Check your chest. And if something doesn't feel right, GET IT CHECKED. We aren't exaggerating when we say- it may just save your life.

WOW WOW WOW - It’s a wrap on our first ever fundraiser.

30 STOMPERS - 8.4MILLION steps and £20.5k! We are totally blown away, and so so appreciative to our amazing STOMPERS and all their supporters (757 wow wow wowww).

Honestly, this money can go SO far for a lil charity like ours. More volunteers, more socials, more talks, more support for you all. We are buzzing.
