๐ŸŒŠ Fresh air and flat paths by the waterfront โ›ต

Another great route is along the Plymouth Barbican Waterfront; itโ€™s a classic Plymouth walk with plenty to see.

The route is mostly flat and paved, takes around one hour, and is easy to combine with cafรฉs, benches and public transport. A warm layer is handy near the water, even on brighter days ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ

Along the way youโ€™ll find historic harbour views, Tudor streets, boats and seabirds, with lots of places to pause and take it all in โš“

Walking by the sea combines gentle exercise with fresh air and open views, a simple recipe for lifting mood and energy.

๐ŸŒฟ A calmer walk at Saltram ๐ŸŒฟ

Saltram - National Trust and the River Plym is a peaceful riverside route set among woodland, open fields and historic surroundings.

The paths are mostly level, with some gravel sections, and the walk can take one to three hours, depending on how far you choose to go. Itโ€™s a good idea to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a waterproof layer, just in case ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ

Look out for wading birds, ducks and spring wildflowers along the riverbanks ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿฆ†

Spending time walking near water is known to help people feel calmer and more focused making this a great option when life feels busy.

๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ”ฅ Could this cut Plymouthโ€™s carbon emissions by at least 5%? Have your sayโ€ฆ

Plymouth is set to see two new heat network zones across the city centre and waterfront, as well as Derriford, with the potential to reduce city emissions by at least 5% ๐Ÿ’š

Heat networks are a more efficient, lower-carbon way to heat buildings, helping reduce reliance on fossil fuels while supporting a greener future ๐ŸŒฑ

๐Ÿ’ก Why it matters:
โœ… Lower carbon emissions across Plymouth
โœ… More efficient way to heat homes and businesses
โœ… A key step towards achieving net zero

๐Ÿ“ฃ The consultation on the heat network zone boundaries is now live and runs until 19 July

If you live, work or run a business in or near the proposed zones, your input is vital ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’™ Happy World Oceans Day!

The ocean covers over 70% of our planet, produces at least half the oxygen we breathe, and plays a vital role in regulating our climate, but itโ€™s under increasing pressure from pollution, overfishing and climate change. ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿš

Here in Britainโ€™s Ocean City, weโ€™re lucky to be surrounded by incredible marine environments, from Plymouth Sound to our coastlines and rivers.

๐Ÿ’ก Small actions can make a big difference:

๐ŸŒฟ Support sustainable seafood choices
๐Ÿ’ง Be mindful of what goes down drains
