💍 Saved, restored and finally home again! ❤️

Here’s a lovely Good News Story that’s been a long time in the making…

Back in September 2025, one of our repairers, Malcolm, brought in a wedding ring belonging to a friend who lives in Edinburgh.

Our jewellery repairer, Paul, did a fantastic job restoring the ring to its former glory. 💍✨

The only problem? Getting it back to its owner! She wasn't keen on trusting the postal service with such a precious item, so the ring had to wait until it could be safely reunited with her.

Fast forward to now, and the ring is finally back where it belongs and its owner is “absolutely overjoyed” to have it back. ❤️

A great reminder that sometimes a repair isn't just about fixing an item – it's about preserving the memories and meaning attached to it.

🔧 Our next Repair Café is Saturday 24th October.

Got something that needs repairing? Don't give up on it just yet – bring it along and we'll see what we can do!

💻 Still using Windows 10? Don’t replace your laptop just yet!

With Windows 10 support ending, now is a great time to explore Linux - a free, secure and reliable alternative that can breathe new life into older PCs. ♻️

We’ve already had our first Linux success story at the Repair Café!
One of our repairers, Chris, donated an old work laptop, which was rebuilt using Linux Mint. It has now gone to a very happy customer, who is “absolutely overjoyed” to have a working laptop again. 💚

It’s a great example of how older technology can be given a second life rather than becoming e-waste.

Could your old laptop benefit from Linux?
Our IT volunteers can take a look and advise whether Linux Mint could be suitable for your machine.
