This is a fantastic community event that is well supoorted by local businesses through sponsorship and advertising The event is staged annually to raise money for the PTA groups of local schools Kirkbymoorisde CP School (Reg. charity 1050071) and Gillamoor C of E School. It is their their biggest fund raising event of the year and the money raised is used to enrich and enhance the educational expe
rience of the children and young people in our local area. The event attracts local runners and club athletes alike from from Yorkshire, neighborouring counties and even a few people from other areas of UK and abroad who make it an annual event. There is therefore a competitive element amongst club runners who find this quite a challenging road race but also plenty of people who come to enjoy the day and perhaps try and achieve a PB (personal best). With other races on offer too, stalls on the streets, shops and cafes open, it is a great day out for all the family. We have a 4km road race for children in school years 7 to 11 and run an adult fun run over the same distance for those wishing to run a shorter race. We then have a children's 1 mile race for those in schools years 2 to 6 and finally a dash for children in school year 2 and under.
