This coming Sunday is the last of this Season's Indoor Flying sessions at Bushfield.
It is a 6 hour session (10am-4pm) and will allow time for the upcoming Indoor Scale Nationals contenders to get some trimming flights in. So apart from a great days' flying it will also be an opportunity to see some wonderful models on show and flying in the hall. Check out Richard Crossley's beautiful Grumman Duck as an example of one of these models here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5hAmuVH-1o
To give the NATs competitors the space they need to fly their super scale models we will be controlling who can fly at certain times throughout the day. So when the Signal Whistle is blown please clear the floor and stop flying to allow these flights to take place. We will allow ample opportunity throughout the day for Sport Flying, the Gyminnie Cricket competition and the nearest to the £5 competition. It will be the 4th and final round of Gyminnie Cricket and will include the prize giving for the year. A reminder that there is a link to the rules on our website at https://peterboroughmfc.org/events/
As we will have some fantastic scale models at the event could I please ask you to read and take note of the "Indoor Flying Etiquette" below:
- Please fly with consideration for others
- After launching your model retreat promptly to the perimeter of the flying area
- Do not linger in the middle watching your model or talking to a friend
- Stay aware of all that is happening around you. Look down as well as up!
- If you hear a shout of “STOP”, freeze! someone is about to collide with a model
- If you hear a whistle (or a horn) then DO NOT launch your model. It is a signal that a scale model is about to fly alone in empty airspace
- Retrieve by going around the perimeter of the flying area, NOT across the middle
- Do not run or move quickly as it disturbs the air and increases the risk of you hitting a model
The event is at Bushfield Leisure Centre, Peterborough, PE2 5RQ. Spectators are welcome. Look forward to seeing you there!
