Perth Women on Wikipedia - Scotland

Perth Women on Wikipedia - Scotland Group of editors and trainers partnering with library staff to bring the under-told histories of Perthshire's women to Wikipedia. Perth, Scotland

Aiming to be inclusive and intersectional. Changing the world in small and important ways. Perth Women on Wikipedia has been running since 2023, starting off as a partnership between Wikimedia UK and Culture Perth and Kinross Libraries. We carry out local history research and then use it to create or improve Wikipedia pages on Perthshire women. Give us a follow if you're a new or experienced Wikip

edia editor, if you're a fan of women's history or Perth history, or if you're just curious about what we're up to. Local historians and editors of all genders are welcome to take part in our events - as long as you're comfortable in a space that centres women's history. If you've any questions, ask away.

Our next Wikipedia editing drop-in is on Saturday 30 May 10-12 at Bramblers Café, St Johns Street, Perth (last Saturday of every month).

Come along for a chat and a cuppa if you have an interest in local / women's history, or you're a new or experienced Wikipedia editor who could use some peer support. All genders are always welcome.

You can work on whatever articles interest you, or you can draw inspiration from our work list of notable Perthshire women.

Just don't forget your laptop!

Remember: People you look for in the census for may not be in the place you expect to find them.

Then as now, people sometimes worked away from home or went on holiday and stayed in hotels and other places.

If there’s someone you can’t track down, try looking elsewhere.
