Perth High Constables is made up of 100 Members, who live or work in Perth and Kinross.

When ex Moderator John Masterson died in October 1920, his coffin was carried to Wellshill Cemetery on a gun carriage, accompanied by a Guard of Honour from the Scots Greys. John, known as The Soldier's Friend, was Moderator from 1894-96.

Taking gate money at Perth Show, attending executions within Perth Prison or escorting the monarch. We've done this and more in the last 200 years. In advance of our bicentennial in 2030, we are researching the people who were Members and the ways in which we have served the City and County. This week, Moderator Bill Duncan escorted Provost Xander McDade and Lord Lieutenant Stephen Leckie when they visited Jackson and Elspeth Robb, who were celebrating their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. Congratulations Jackson and Elspeth.

Last Wednesday, we held our Annual Dinner at The Salutation Hotel. Thanks to Gordon and his staff for looking after us for the 16th year in a row. Picture shows Moderator Bill Duncan and invited guests.

Bandmaster J M Miller, 1st Perth Rifle Volunteers.
On 14 August 1885, Bandmaster Miller conducted the band at a concert beside the Albert Memorial on North Inch, Perth. They played eight pieces, including a March composed by Mr Miller titled 'Perth High Constables'.
We would love to know more about Mr Miller and to hear his music again.

Today (11 November 2025) Perth High Constables provided a Guard of Honour at Bowerswell House, Perth's WWII Memorial.

Provost McDade, escorted by Moderator Bill Duncan and Vice Moderator Brian Singer approaches the Polish War Graves in Perth for this afternoon's ceremony (2 November 2025).

There are only three High Constable Societies in addition to Perth - Edinburgh, Port of Leith and the High Constables and Guard of Honour of Holyroodhouse. In 1937, when Cigarette Cards were popular with collectors, this card formed part of a Coronation Set from Players Ci******es. It is the only one ever to feature High Constables (unless you know otherwise).

65 years ago today (10 October 1960) Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II visited Perth to open Queens Bridge. A video of the day is on our website (www.highconstablesperth.org). Perth High Constables had Guards of Honour at City Chambers and at Queens Bridge.
