We wanted to share this post from Councillor Alex Dale regarding the overgrown stairs.

This is something Friends of the Coppice have been raising for quite some time, and while from the outside it can sometimes look like nothing is happening, the reality is that many issues are not always within the direct control of our ward councillors.

One thing we have always found is that both Alex Dale and Steve Edwards are approachable, willing to listen, and always happy to be contacted about issues affecting our community. That makes a massive difference.

It can be easy to assume that because something hasn't been fixed immediately, nobody is doing anything. The truth is that many things take time, involve different departments, permissions, budgets and processes behind the scenes.

What matters to us is that they keep pushing, keep asking questions, and keep trying to get things moving on behalf of local residents.

As a group, we are incredibly grateful for the support both Cllr Alex Dale and Steven Edwards continue to give Friends of the Coppice and the wider community. Their commitment, accessibility and hard work do not go unnoticed.

Thank you both for everything you do for our area. ๐Ÿ’š

What an absolutely amazing afternoon! ๐Ÿ’š

A massive thank you to everyone who came along today and supported our first Friends of the Coppice event. It was brilliant to see so many people out, enjoying themselves, supporting the group and showing what a fantastic community we have.

Thank you to the Bathams Fox and Grapes for having us and for being such a big part of the day.

A huge thank you also to Fens Pool for the kind donation of the bouncy castle โ€” it was a brilliant addition to the day and the kids absolutely loved it. ๐Ÿฐ

Another big thank you to Mary for stepping in with her last-minute face painting skills and glitter tattoos. The kids loved it, and it really helped add something special to the day. โœจ๐ŸŽจ

A huge thank you again for the continued support from our amazing councillors, Cllr Alex Dale with his amazing BBQ skills and Steven Edwards I know Steve would have loved to have been there today, but we know he was there in spirit โ€” get well soon, Steve. ๐Ÿ’š

And of course, thank you to our newly appointed Mayoral Ambassador, Karen Westwood, for her continued support too.

Days like today just go to show what an amazing community we have, and how much can happen when people come together.

Thank you again to everyone who helped, supported, shared, donated, turned up, or just came along for a bit of fun. It really does mean a lot. ๐Ÿ’š

Good news โ€” the weather is looking good for today with no sign of rain! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’š

Just a quick reminder for our Friends of the Coppice Family Fun Day today at the Fox & Grapes.

๐Ÿ“ Meet at the pub from 12pm
๐Ÿงน Litter pick starts at 12.15pm and runs until around 1.30pm

After that, weโ€™ll be heading back to the pub for the fun bit! ๐Ÿ˜„

Thereโ€™ll be the bouncy castle, food, darts competition, and the face painter is due between 2pm and 3pm.

This is our first event, so please bear with us while we find our feet โ€” but weโ€™re really looking forward to seeing everyone, having a good day, and raising a few quid to put back into the Coppice and future community events.

Come along, bring the kids, support local, and letโ€™s make it a brilliant day! ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒณ The Coppice is for everyone to enjoy ๐ŸŒณ

We want the Coppice to be a friendly, welcoming and safe space for local residents, families, children and visitors.

Weโ€™ve seen reports on Facebook today that stones have been thrown at cars from the area. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and not something we will allow.

As a Friends Group, we really do want to help look after the Coppice, but we can only do that properly if people let us know when things are happening. If you see anything concerning, please donโ€™t just post about it โ€” send us a message too so we can be made aware and look into it.

A small bit of information can make a big difference and helps us protect the area for everyone.

Letโ€™s look after the Coppice together. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒณ Please help us protect our play areas ๐ŸŒณ

Our local parks and play areas are so important to the community. Friends groups work hard alongside local councillors to help keep these spaces clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone.

We all want our children to get outside, have fun, explore and make memories with their friends โ€” but we also need to make sure they respect the equipment and the spaces around them.

Sadly, when play equipment is damaged or abused, it can be very expensive to repair. In some cases, it gets removed and doesnโ€™t get replaced at all. That means everyone loses out.

So please, letโ€™s all do our bit:

๐Ÿ’š Respect the park
๐Ÿ’š Supervise children
๐Ÿ’š Help protect our community spaces

If we all take a little responsibility, we can help make sure these play areas stay open, safe and available for the children who use them.

Letโ€™s look after what little we have left. ๐ŸŒฟ

At Friends of the Coppice, weโ€™re proud to be backing Karen Westwood ๐Ÿ’š

Karen has always shown how much she cares about Brockmoor and Pensnett. She is visible in the community, gets involved, listens to local people, and works hard to support the area we all care about ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒณ

Not everything a councillor does is always seen ๐Ÿ‘€ and sometimes, from the outside, it can look like not much is happening. But the truth is, a lot gets done behind the scenes through commitment, persistence, and genuinely caring about the community ๐Ÿ’ช

Weโ€™ve seen the difference Karen makes, and we know how important it is to keep strong local voices working for our area.

She is also part of a fantastic team alongside Cllr Alexr Alex and Councillor Steve, and together they have helped support local people, local groups and local projects across Brockmoor and Pensnett โค๏ธ

Weโ€™re not interested in politics โ€” weโ€™re interested in people, community, and what is best for our area.

Thatโ€™s why we donโ€™t want to lose Karen Westwood.

If you want to keep a strong local voice working for Brockmoor and Pensnett, get behind Karen Westwood โœ…

๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’š Working together for the Coppice ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒณ

Great to meet up with the green care team today and some other important people from Dudley council and our amazing ward councillors along with Jenny and Sharron, for a walk around the Coppice to look at how Friends of the Coppice can link in better with council teams and keep improving the space for everyone to enjoy.

Itโ€™s really important that we continue building these relationships โ€” having the backing of Dudley Council and our local councillors makes a big difference.

Progress can feel slow at times, but itโ€™s all moving in the right direction. Weโ€™ll keep pushing forward, working together, and doing our bit to look after the Coppice.

At the end of the day, if we donโ€™t keep up the effort โ€” maintaining it, keeping it clean, and speaking up โ€” we risk losing what weโ€™ve got.

Thanks to everyone involved and supporting along the way ๐Ÿ’š
