πŸ’š May is Mental Health Awareness Month πŸ’š

This month, Eden Vision Buddies wants to talk openly about something many people living with sight loss experience but do not always speak about, the impact it can have on mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Losing your sight, or living with changing vision, affects far more than just your eyesight. It can change confidence, independence, relationships, routines, and the way you experience the world around you.

For many people, sight loss brings feelings of frustration, loneliness, fear, uncertainty, anxiety, or sadness. Some days may feel positive and hopeful, while others may feel overwhelming. That is completely normal.

Living with visual impairment can sometimes feel isolating, especially when others do not fully understand the daily challenges involved. But nobody should have to go through that journey alone.

At Eden Vision Buddies, we believe emotional support is just as important as practical support. Sometimes the biggest difference comes from having a friendly conversation, meeting people who understand, sharing experiences, or simply knowing there is somewhere you belong.

Whether you are newly diagnosed, adjusting to changes in your vision, or supporting a loved one with sight loss, please remember:

πŸ’š Your feelings are valid
πŸ’š It is okay to ask for support
πŸ’š You deserve connection and understanding
πŸ’š You are never alone

Our weekly group is a safe and welcoming space where people can come together, make friendships, build confidence, and support one another through the highs and lows of living with sight loss.

If you would like to know more about Eden Vision Buddies or join us at one of our sessions, please send us a message.

Not all help is helpful. Sound familiar?

Someone grabbing your arm without asking. A stranger talking to your companion like you're not even there. Or the opposite - people who assume and act before you've said a word.

It can be exhausting.

But sometimes? Someone gets it exactly right. πŸ’›

Maybe they asked first before stepping in. Gave you clear, calm directions. Let you set the pace. Held the door without making it a whole thing.

Those moments matter more than people realise.

So we want to hear from you πŸ‘‡

What's the best way someone has helped you in public?

Tell us in the comments - your experience could help someone else get it right.
