NHS and social care staff are doing the best they can in difficult circumstances, but there might be things about your care that were great or that could be improved. Please take a moment to share your story with us.  This survey is confidential and giving us feedback will not affect your care. See...

Don’t miss your chance to help us design our future care services!

We are asking people to share their experiences of receiving homecare. Have your say by completing this online questionnaire: https://bit.ly/HomecareExperiences

We would like to know what works well, what needs to be improved and what is most important in giving people a good experience of homecare.

The closing date for the survey is 5pm Friday 14 July 2023.

Officers are reminding members of the public to report any concerns they have on public safety or crime to police rather than speculate online.

The message follows a number of incidents which have come to light recently which generated undue concern and speculation on social media channels.

Chief Superintendent Matt Kennerley, Cumbria Constabulary, said:

“We would like to reassure all communities that we, as a police force, are here to investigate thoroughly any reports of crime or disorder.

“We are aware of a small number of social media posts recently alleging criminal incidents, which were not reported directly to us in the first instance. Instead they caused concern on social media, which was later found to be unnecessary as the alleged incidents were found not to be true.

“We appreciate that many of those who have shared such information have done so with a genuine care for public safety. We want to support all communities as best we can and to do so, we need your information to assist us in keeping people safe and bring offenders to justice.

“Please be assured that reporting your information to us is the best way for an incident to be looked into quickly and dealt with appropriately.”

You can report a crime or information online at https://orlo.uk/4BVl1 or by calling 101. If it is an emergency or a crime in action, please dial 999.

Residents urged to register to have their say in May.

On Thursday 4 May 2023 people in the new Cumberland Council area will have their say at local town and parish elections on who represents them locally.

Residents must be on the electoral register to be able to vote in May. With the registration deadline approaching, people who are not registered at their current address are urged to make sure they are registered before it is too late.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday 17 April. It takes just five minutes to apply online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.

The call to ensure you are registered to vote, comes in the week that the Notice of Election documents have been published. Anyone who wishes to stand for election can now start to submit their application. The deadline for completed nomination papers is 4pm on Tuesday 4 April 2023. Details of the nomination process can be found on the Allerdale, Carlisle and Copeland council websites.

Our staff are taking part in industrial action today from 12.01am to 11:59pm.
While ambulances will still be available, again, we are asking the public to support us by only calling 999 for life-threatening injuries or illnesses. This will ensure that ambulances are free for those people who really need our help.
Typical emergencies include cardiac arrest, loss of consciousness, fits that aren’t stopping, breathing difficulties, severe bleeding or allergic reactions and serious head injuries.
Other patients requiring hospital treatment will likely be asked to take alternative transport, such as a taxi or get a lift from family or friends.
You should use 111.nhs.uk, your GP or local pharmacy for help with non-urgent health concerns.
This is all the more important as we will see more of our staff striking in more service areas today. We’ll have reduced ambulance crews but also reduced 999 and 111 call handling staff and fewer staff in our patient transport service.
