First up on the 6th of September is Laurence Pears telling ‘Not Now Bernard’ by David McKee, and ‘Winnie the Witch’ by Valerie Thomas.

Expect monsters, magic tricks, a loop pedal and more...

Laurence was acting in Cornwall from a young age and, at 15, appeared in Ladies in Lavender alongside Maggie Smith and Judi Dench.
🎭
Since then, he has performed nationally and internationally, and collaborated with Sir Alan Ayckbourn.

He co-founded Cornwall’s Jam First Theatre , creating family shows such as Elf..ish for Cornish audiences.

ROT is a four-day residential gathering for q***r, disabled and neurodivergent working across , and .

Hosted at The Creation Works in Par, Cornwall from 31st Aug - 5th Sept, ROT brings together artists, , makers and thinkers for four days of collective living, experimentation and exchange. Together we will share meals, conversations, unfinished projects, strange ideas, walks, naps and moments of unexpected connection.
🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️
Led by two facilitators (Scamp Niemz and Joss Affleck ), the residency creates space for artists to explore new approaches to making, collaborate across disciplines, and develop ideas through play, experimentation and mutual support.

DROLLYS - STORYTELLING FOR CHILDREN

DROLLYS is a new, free, monthly storytelling event from The Creation Works, for children aged 4 - 11 and their adults.
📖
Each month one of our fantastic performers - or Droll Tellers - will bring to life some well loved children’s books and traditional tales.
✨
Each session will include 2-3 stories and games and/or arts & crafts activities to have a go at themed around the story.
👏
The line up includes: Award Winning comic, Radio 4 and CBBC favourite Joanna Neary, BBC Eastender’s Elijah Holloway, Laurence Pears, Award winning Cornish Comic Mimi Attenburrow, Near Ta’s Daniel Richardson, Cornish Clown Kesha Pullum… and more to be announced.

These sessions will be relaxed and informal. Fun for children and young people and for their adults. Supporting literacy and oracy, with funding from Arts Council England, FEAST Cornwall, Fowey Lions Club and Cornwall Council.

A water-inspired sensory dance adventure for children aged 0–6
🧒
Second Hand Dance are looking for children aged 0-6 and their adults to experience a rehearsal dance performance on 26 & 28 August.
💃
Water is an immersive dance performance for children and their families inspired by the rhythm and movement of water. Three dancers, Juan, Paolo, and Joyce, invite you to join them in an open, welcoming and relaxed environment.
💦
As they improvise and dance through the space, you’re invited to also move and dance, watch, listen or simply observe. We encourage you to choose how you interact with the performers and the surrounding space.
👨‍👧
A multi-sensory adventure for disabled, neurodivergent and non-disabled children and their grown-ups. Water is a relaxed performance, come and go as you need, no expectation of stillness or silence.

Not so long ago every town had its dance hall. It’s on the dance floor that we used to meet; the waxed floor of a ballroom, the illuminated tiles of a disco, the sticky Lino of a nightclub. All dance floors share a magical ability to transport us out from the everyday to a place of dreams, but over the years, most have disappeared.

What if a dance floor could travel? The wooden boards of a dance hall brought back to your neighbourhood… and in the company of some amazing dance artists?

In The Floor On Tour the Urban Playground Team brings nostalgic dance from across the decades together with an unexpected twist: Viennese Waltz meets Jive, Charleston meets Parkour. One hundred years of dance with, of course, one banging soundtrack.
