Not sure about where you are, but the wind is definitely wet and blustering here today! 💨🌧

As our glorious summer starts to fade we thought this was simply too good not to share. We don’t shout loudly enough about the wonderful things happening across CHAOS Farm or 'CHAOS at Eden.

The teams pour so much soul into what they do every single day, from therapeutic spaces to community growing, they are doing brilliant things so let’s send them some well-deserved love in the comments below!

It's been a real mixed bag of weather this week and with that a mixed bag of jobs to do around the site.
We've dismantled our shed after it sustained irreparable damage , painted new number signs for our veg beds, cut and raked our wildflower meadow and built some storage systems for our tools. You never know what you will be able to turn your hand to here.......🪵🪚🖌🌼

Today we learnt about pickling things to help avoid food waste.
We have a surplus of cucumbers so we decided to pickle them in vinegar with some chilli and garlic.
They will taste great with a little bit of cheese or in a salad. 🥒🥒🌶🌶🫙🫙

We have been prepping early for 🧑‍🎄🎄and preparing our own mincemeat.
We used excess apples , dried fruit, lemon, sugar, suet and spices to mix up our own homemade mincemeat. Left in a cool, dry place it will be perfect to make into lovely mincepies.

We’ve done it !!!
We’ve harvested just over 500kg of veg so far this year !!
This is the amount we grew for the whole of last year and we’ve still got 4 months to go !!
That’s 500kg of fresh veg being sent to our food larders and fresh veg for our client gardeners to cook in sessions .
Many thanks to our amazing staff and client gardeners for all their hard work … here’s to more harvests .

Why plant sunflowers ???

Did you know not only are they stunning flowers that brighten up everyone's day but there are others reasons why sunflowers are great for the garden.
🌻They are great for attracting pollinating insects like bees and butterflies.
🌻They attract other bugs like ladybirds and lacewings who eat pests such as aphids.
🌻The deep roots of the sunflower help to aerate the soil which in turn improves drainage and soil structure.
🌻Great food source for birds and smaller mammals which is great for nature, if there are any left humans can eat them too .

There may be dinosaurs 🦖🦕down in the biomes at Eden at the moment, but its feeling a little like Jurassic park here in our polytunnels.
Have you seen the size of our sweetcorn!! 🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
We cant wait to harvest it for the larder and also save some for cooking here.
