VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED PLEASE
We are urgently seeking help to manage and feed the seagulls and pens at the ASH RESCUE, sanctuary in Dartmouth. If you are able to spend a few hours per week / evening / weekends it would be greatly appreciated. This is purely voluntary work without pay but would suit any wildlife enthusiasts who would love to help the young seagulls grow and eventually fly off to start their new life. Please contact me immediately if this sounds like you. (Help with travel cost provided)
Thank you

These two chicks were found just hatched from their egg shells on a porch in Paignton. No mother in sight, and very vulnerable to predators. I’m over the moon to say they are now both eating well and growing quickly.

We’ve entered into the busiest time of the year. Thank you Torbay for caring about the seagulls and their chicks, updates to follow regarding the progress of the rescued chicks who are now being cared for at Ash Rescue

These little ones will be going to Ash Rescue Dartmouth tomorrow.

We’re now taking in seagull chicks, this little one has fallen from a two story building, luckily he has no broken bones. All of our rescue chicks will be going to Ash Rescue in Dartmouth where they are cared for and released when ready to fly.

Quick update, following on from the previous post, here are the sibling squabs accompanied by another abandoned fledgling. The three of them hit it off straight away and were released together last week.

We were contacted recently by a local roofing company, these two beautiful little squabs were nesting underneath solar roof panels, (which were due to be dismantled) they’d been disturbed and mom had flown off and abandoned them, here they are safe and warm in the brooder box.

These little ducklings were found in a car park near Paignton harbour by a team of builders, mom was no where to be seen or found, all were taken to RSPCA wildlife centre in West Hatch Taunton, where they’re doing well.

Yet another seagull caught up in netting. We were alerted this evening to a poor seagull completely tangled up in netting upon a roof in Great Western Close in Paignton. Our amazing fire service were here within minutes to free the poor bird, unfortunately he passed away due to his severe injuries. We will be contacting the building management company to request all netting be removed. A big thank you to Paignton Fire Service for their quick response to our call for help. Not forgetting a massive thank you to the kind lady who alerted us earlier on in the evening.

A big thank you to the distressed property owners for contacting us in time to save this little one’s life. (Please see previous post)

We were called this afternoon to attend an unusual situation, a seagull was trapped between a garage and a ten foot high wall, he’d been there for two days, after climbing up a ladder and using a very long handled bird net we managed to scoop him up. No broken wings or legs. Please see the next video to watch him happily fly away.
