Tree work was completed last weekend up towards the Fenny.

Storm damage had created some dangerous branches that needed attention before they caused harm or damage.

Fabulous team work again and thank you to the tenants that came to help, many hands made light work πŸ‘

To the members of the public that came through site last weekend thank you for your cooperation and understanding while we closed access to the field as a precaution.

Another job ticked off the list, now onto the next one 😊

Thank you to the members of the public who have commented, stopped to have a conversation and noticed the improvements the new committee are making to the site. This is only possible thanks to our allotment members and committee volunteers, great team work😊

When we receive an allotment back its over grown like the picture below. Committee members and tenants work together on their own time to clear and prepare the allotment for the new tenant. Allotments should be ready to grow from day one of a tenancy agreement. This allotment was one of the easiest we have had to turn around and that's thanks to the previous tenant respecting the plot and not using it as a dumping ground. Overgrown weeds are easy to tackle and this one is now ready for a newbie to join our growing community 😊

The new committee are working their way around the site fixing external fencing.

This is how the previous committee repaired fencing (see photos).
Not very safe for a public walk through.

58 posts have so far been replaced by our allotment officer and tenants with still more to do.

Next area Elizabeth Street leading onto St Anne's street 😊

Great to see not only tenants helping themselves to the free produce but also the public including children enjoying the freebies on offer.

This is on trial and if all goes well, will become a permanent feature on site. Free produce grown by your local allotmenteers 😊

*in the box today we have red and green Goosberries, beetroot, courgettes and cucumber*

As you will see over the coming days, tenants will be strimming the perimeters of site. Ready for all the activity due to the summer holidays.

Most tenants do clear outside their own allotment but some who are unable are supported by other tenants.

If you see a man in an orange hi vi's on site, that's our allotment officer Martin, say hello when your passing. His volunteer role is to ensure the site is tidy, maintained and our tenants are supported.

We look forward to seeing you enjoying the outdoors this summer πŸ˜Šβ˜€οΈ
