Last month, we were incredibly proud to host a very special evening celebrating the launch of Breast Cancer: Global Quality Care, a new open access book published by Oxford University Press and co-edited by Professor PG Roy, alongside the Facing the Future portrait exhibition by artists Ruth Swain and Paul Starns.
It was a powerful evening bringing together clinical expertise, personal experiences and artistic expression β and a reminder that breast cancer is about so much more than diagnosis and treatment.
π **The book** explores the social, financial and political dimensions of breast cancer, bringing together the perspectives of patients, clinicians, caregivers, researchers and policymakers. It looks at the bigger picture and the importance of connecting research, clinical practice, policy and, most importantly, the experiences of those living with breast cancer.
πΌοΈ **The portraits** tell some of those individual stories. Featuring patients, healthcare professionals, researchers and loved ones, they capture the very real impact breast cancer can have on individuals, families and communities, while also reflecting resilience, hope and the importance of support.
For us at Oxford Breast Buddy Group, that message is particularly close to our hearts. Our ethos has always been that nobody should have to face a breast cancer diagnosis alone, and it was wonderful to see so many people come together with that shared commitment.
A huge congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this important project to life. π
