About Us:
UK Men’s Rights Action evolved from a group of male friends who became increasingly unhappy with the negative way that men and boys were portrayed in the mainstream media, back in 2015. This discontent grew into a street activism movement, where several awareness raising events and stunts were carried out in Oxford UK, to highlight the unique problems men and boys face. This street activism was no easy task, as men and boys’ issues were rarely, if ever, covered by the mainstream media back then.
For most people, the idea that men and boys’ might have issues and that the modern feminist movement was anything other than a force for good, was not something they had considered before. Thankfully, the tide of public opinion is changing on this. Men and boys’ issues such as: male ge***al mutilation/circumcision, false allegations, paternity rights, the underachievement of boys in education, female perpetrated domestic abuse, plus many more concerns are finally starting to get the recognition they deserve.
Originally called Oxford Men’s Rights Action, we changed out name in March 2019 to UK Men’s Rights Action, in order to reflect how our group had established a national and international reach. At this time, we also became the official supporters page for the British political party and men’s rights activism organisation ‘Justice for Men & Boys J4MB’ https://j4mb.org.uk , as our aims were broadly similar. As well as increasing our online presence, we have formed multiple alliances with a diverse range of local men’s groups, contributing to their work. UK MRA now acts as source of information, debate and humour for a wide range of people, both UK based and abroad. If you take the time to look at the names and faces on the long list of people who have ‘liked’ and positively commented on our page, you will see what a remarkably multi-ethnic, multi-racial and multi-faith movement we are.
This undeniable fact, makes a mockery of UK MRA’s (then Oxford MRA) inclusion in Hope Not Hate’s ‘State of Hate 2019’ report. This report strongly implied in the section entitled ‘Societal Misogyny and the Manosphere: Understanding the UK Anti-Feminist movement’ (pp.38-41), that our organisation is dangerous, misogynistic and extremist in our aims and beliefs. The report can be read here:https://j4mb.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/46/2019/02/190218-Hope-not-Hate-report.pdf
UK MRA has strong support from both women men, so clearly we are not an anti-woman or a misogynistic movement. However, we are staunchly anti-feminist, not anti-women. Women are a biological s*x, feminism is an ideology based on destructive Marxist doctrine, which harms men, women, the family and society. As an organisation, we reject the feminist narrative that women have always been historically oppressed by men. Our organisation and supporters understand that the truth is far more nuanced than this. Ordinary men and women have historically both been oppressed and each s*x had their own burdens and advantages. This continues to this day and UK MRA exists to try to correct this false narrative as well as anti-male bias of the mainstream media, and in the feminist-influenced public consciousness.
The mainstream media shows support for women and girls issues, which is good and proper. However, male issues are minimised; when featured at all, male issues are frequently portrayed as being self-inflicted. Also, frequently cited as a source of male troubles is ‘toxic masculinity’. This phrase is in itself toxic and incredibly harmful to both males, females and society.
Welcome to our page, supporters of UK MRA do not have to agree on every issue discussed, but what we do agree on is that men and boys are human beings and worthy of compassion too. If you comment on this page, please keep it civil and your swear words to an absolute minimum. Verbally attacking political ideologies is OK, verbally attacking individuals is not OK. Anybody advocating for violence against an individual, group or religion will be banned from the page instantly. You have been warned.
DISCLAIMER: The comments on this page are not pre-moderated and there is a limit to how much post-publication comment removal can be carried out. It follows that views expressed in comments on this page do not necessarily reflect the views of the British political party Justice for Men & Boys https://j4mb.org.uk or UK MRA.
As a general introduction to the men’s rights movement, we recommend watching Cassie Jaye’s informative documentary movie ‘The Red Pill’ and Brendon Marotta’s heartbreaking ‘American Circumcision’ documentary movie. Both are award winning, critically acclaimed and very accessible.
