Today, Scott, Leigh, Tomas and Charlie headed over to Whitworth to visit B*H Limited.

Established in 1835, B*H has built a worldwide reputation for manufacturing high-quality process systems for the food and confectionery industries, and today we got to see exactly why.

Let's rewind a couple of months...

When we installed the defibrillator cabinet at Head in Rochdale, Heart Hero Leigh commented that we really needed a mounting template to make installations easier. Holding a cabinet against a wall whilst marking drill holes sounds simple, until you're balancing a lop-sided heavy cabinet with one hand and trying to mark the wall with the other!

After we mentioned this on Facebook, Rhodes from B*H got in touch.

Following several conversations between Scott and Carl, ideas were shared, measurements exchanged and a plan was put together.

Today, a suprise was organised! Leigh was presented with the finished product...

⭐ The Leigh Mounting Template ⭐

A professionally manufactured template that will make future defibrillator cabinet installations quicker, easier and more accurate.

Not only that, but the team at B*H gave us a fantastic tour of their facilities, showcasing the incredible craftsmanship, engineering expertise and cutting-edge technology used to manufacture machinery for the food and confectionery industry.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Carl and everyone at B*H for their generosity, support and hard work. This is a seriously impressive piece of kit that will serve us for many years to come. Better still, it can be adapted in the future to accommodate different cabinet designs and mounting patterns.

We have to admit, there is something very special about seeing it officially named after one of our Heart Heroes.

Well done Leigh, your idea has become a reality, and it's now going to help us install even more life-saving defibrillators across our communities.

Sponsors play a HUGE part in helping community defibrillators stay online and rescue-ready 24/7.

As the pads and charge stick reached expiry on the defibrillator at The Puckersley Inn Royton, Narrowgate Brow, the amazing team literally down the road at Fit 4 Sport stepped straight up to the mark!

By sponsoring this lifesaving equipment, they made sure the replacement pads and charge stick were purchased and ready for installation BEFORE the defibrillator went offline to North West Ambulance Service. That means the community continues to have access to emergency equipment without interruption.

🎁 A special presentation I love Oldham 🎁

Today we had the privilege of presenting the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor Eddie Moores , and his amazing wife Kath Moores with a lifesaving defibrillator for the Mayoral car.

Today marked the final full day of Eddie’s time as Mayor of Oldham and, despite what must have been an incredibly busy schedule, he took the time to personally give our Heart Heroes a guided tour of the incredible new Civic Centre building before welcoming us into his chambers.

This was an opportunity we wanted every single Heart Hero involved with Defibrillators Save Lives to experience, because every volunteer, supporter and fundraiser plays a part in what we achieve as a charity.

The Mayor’s car travels all across the borough and may often find itself in areas where there is no nearby public access defibrillator. The Mayor’s security team is with the Mayor the vast majority of the time and will now have immediate access to lifesaving equipment should the unthinkable ever happen.

As a charity, Defibrillators Save Lives has chosen to provide this defibrillator completely free of charge and we will also cover future replacement costs for pads, batteries or if the device is ever used in an emergency. This is simply a small token of appreciation for everything Eddie has done during his time as Mayor, even though it will now pass into the care of his successor.

We will soon be returning to meet the new Mayor, the wider team & Eddie and Kath, to provide full CPR and defibrillator training, including how to use the equipment correctly and how to care for it going forward.

Because having a defibrillator is important…
But knowing how to use it saves lives!

🫀⚽👏 THIS EVENING AT OLDHAM ATHLETIC… OUR HEART HEROES ARE TEACHING LIFE SAVING SKILLS TO THE NEXT GENERATION 👏⚽🫀

This evening, our amazing Heart Heroes from Defibrillators Save Lives are down at Oldham Athletic working alongside Youth Service during the youth football tournament.

Between matches, young people will be attending our CPR Workshop where they will learn: 🫀 How to assess an unconscious person
🫀 How to call for help correctly
🫀 How to perform CPR
🫀 The importance of early defibrillation

Everything being taught follows the latest guidance from the Resuscitation Council UK.

Tonight, OVER 100 young people will pass through the workshop… and every single one of them will leave with the knowledge and confidence to potentially help save a life one day.

That’s what this charity is all about. Not just installing defibrillators… But creating a community full of lifesavers.

A massive thank you to all of our volunteers giving up their evening to make this happen.

Because cardiac arrest does not care about age, background or location… and the more people trained in CPR, the safer our communities become.

🗣🗣 A HUGE thank you to the fantastic members of Milnrow & District WI for their very kind donation of £55.64 to Defibrillators Save Lives. 🗣🗣

Tonight, Charity Co-Founders Scott and Pat attended the group’s monthly meeting at Milnrow Cricket Club, where they were presented with the donation following the proceeds raised from the WI monthly raffle.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet everyone and speak to around 45-50 members about what our charity does within the community, how publicly accessible defibrillators save lives, and the importance of CPR awareness.

The donation links perfectly with the WI’s national campaign helping raise awareness of CPR and community defibrillators, something we are incredibly passionate about too.

Scott explained how every donation genuinely makes a difference. In fact, just TODAY alone, the charity has spent around £200 replacing pads and a battery for a community defibrillator to ensure it remains rescue ready for North West Ambulance Service to activate in an emergency.

People often see the cabinets on walls, but behind every live defibrillator is ongoing maintenance, replacement parts, registrations, checks and volunteers helping keep them operational 24/7.

So thank you again to everyone at Milnrow & District WI for supporting our charity and helping us continue protecting communities across the borough. Your support really does help save lives.
