A user led organisation, we provide services to people throughout the UK The Rowan Organisation came into existence to provide support, information and advice to Disabled and Older People. This was a major landmark victory following years of campaigning and lobbying by the Disabled Peoples’ Movement. For the first time an Act of Law in the U.K. meant that individuals had choice and control over ho

w their care needs were met. It enabled Disabled People to be supported in their own homes. We embraced this major shift from Government to individual control and developed support services to meet needs of those wanting to access Independent Living via Direct Payments Schemes. We have been providing genuinely user-led services for nearly 30 years.... Our Philosophy
The Rowan Organisation aims to empower individuals by providing information and support. We strongly believe each individual has a right to have their own goals, choices and control. We also strongly believe individuals have the right to determine the level of support required to enable them to achieve their goals. We advocate and operate on the principle of a ‘Social Model of Disability’ which sees disablement arising from social attitudes and inaccessible environments as opposed to a ‘problem’ lying with the individual.
