Mansfield Inner Wheel Club recently swapped its usual meeting format for something altogether more glamorous, as members took to the catwalk at the Oakham Suite for a fabulous charity fashion show featuring clothes supplied by our very own Julia Brown at VB Style.

Members and friends did the honours as models for the evening, showcasing a stunning mix of styles to suit every occasion โ€” from relaxed beachwear, daywear to elegant evening wear โ€” and itโ€™s fair to say they took to the catwalk like seasoned professionals!

The evening was rounded off with a raffle which raised an incredible ยฃ700, making the night not only a whole lot of fun but a hugely successful fundraiser too.

The proceeds (which are still to be finalised) will be shared between some very worthy local causes โ€” NSPCC Mansfield, Jerry Green, NiDAS and Muddled Mines โ€” and a huge thank you goes to Julia at VB Style for dressing us so beautifully, and to everyone who bought raffle tickets and helped set up the event.

At our May meeting Scott from Linney Regenerate, gave a talk about the scheme.

Rather than sending unwanted materials to landfill, Regenerate gives new life to everything from paper and plastic to hardware and machinery. ๏ฟผ Used equipment, surplus stock and promotional items are resold through online marketplaces and charity raffles, raising funds for local community groups and charities.

Scott brought along some wonderful examples of the items created through the scheme, giving members a real sense of the creativity and craftsmanship that goes into turning would-be waste into something beautiful and useful.

Their ultimate ambition is zero waste to landfill ๏ฟผ โ€” a goal that shows just how much a forward-thinking local business can achieve when sustainability is built into everything it does.

President Dain, Past president Jenny and Inner Wheel member Sharon recently presented a cheque for ยฃ800 to the Rainbow Childrenโ€™s hospice.

The ยฃ800 was raised from the Inner Wheel Ceilidh at the end of March. Kerry Laurie, Community Fundraiser, was very pleased and delighted with the donation.

District 22 Quiz Night โ€“ We Came, We Saw, We Googled Nothing (Honestly)

Twelve members of Mansfield Inner Wheel descended on the District 22 quiz last Wednesday evening, armed with enthusiasm, questionable general knowledge, and the unshakeable belief that this would be our night. Spoiler: it was and it wasnโ€™t.

Our three teams delivered a performance best described as โ€œvariedโ€ โ€” one team stormed to a very respectable 5th place, another flew the flag in 11th, and our thirdโ€ฆ well, 17th place is still a placing, and weโ€™re choosing to see it as a triumph of participation over perfection.

A brilliant, laughter-filled evening was had by all, and we left with our dignity mostly intact, a few new quiz facts rattling around our heads, and absolutely no regrets. Watch out District 22 โ€” weโ€™ll be back, and weโ€™ve already started revising!

Great night had with lots of dancing, fun and great company.
President Dain organised the evening and was helped by members of the club. Food was a ploughmanโ€™s put together by Dain and desserts made by members.

Our president Dain Pinder and Vice President Nicola de Lucis visited local charity REACH in Mansfield yesterday. They presented a cheque for ยฃ1000, money raised at the charity fashion show in November to the charity.

Whilst there they met and talked to clients and staff and learnt some more about what REACH does.

REACH are a Nottinghamshire based charity supporting people with learning disabilities to live happier, healthier lives in their community. People with learning disabilities in Nottinghamshire face a higher than average risk of poor health, loneliness and social isolation.
Their centres Reach Southwell, Reach Newark, Reach Mansfield, Flower Pod Southwell and Flower Pod Newark support people with learning disabilities to enjoy a better quality of life in their own community.
