πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Did You Know? What the Royal British Legion Does for Nottinghamshire

At the Nottinghamshire County AGM held on Saturday 31st January, we heard just how much the Royal British Legion has supported our local Armed Forces community over the past year.

The numbers speak for themselves:
In Nottinghamshire alone (Oct 2024 – Sep 2025):

πŸ’· Β£90,077 awarded in grants to 152 local people

This support included:

🏠 £13,119 for housing

β™Ώ Β£17,273 for mobility equipment

🧊 £15,568 for white goods (washing machines, fridges, etc.)

πŸ“Ί Β£16,765 for brown goods (TVs, computers, etc.)

πŸ†˜ Β£3,742 in crisis support

πŸ’³ Β£5,291 for debt relief

⚱️ £5,114 for funeral costs

πŸ₯ Β£4,484 for medical needs

The average age of those helped? Just 52 years old – a reminder that veterans’ needs don’t just affect older generations.

Nottinghamshire Poppy Appeal:

🌺 Β£513,841 raised so far this year – thank you to every volunteer and donor!

Nationally, the Royal British Legion:

βœ… Supported 19,857 households

βœ… Secured Β£11 million through benefits and debt advice

βœ… Made 3,500 check-in calls and 1,000+ home visits

βœ… Sent 62 athletes to the Invictus Games – bringing home 38 medals!

βœ… 97% satisfaction rate in care homes

This is what your support makes possible. This is what the Royal British Legion does – not just on Remembrance Sunday, but every single day.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Nottinghamshire County Royal British Legion Annual General Meeting

Today, the Arnold & District Royal British Legion Branch was proudly represented at the Nottinghamshire County AGM held at Gedling Civic Centre.

In attendance from our branch were Sharon Watson, Ian Longley (Standard Bearer) and Jason King.

We were honoured to witness Sharon Watson receive a County Certificate of Appreciation for her outstanding contribution to the Royal British Legion. The citation recognised Sharon’s deep commitment to the Legion, her vital work as secretary for both City Branch and CBOC, her role supporting county events, and crucially, her instrumental efforts in revitalising our Arnold Branch.

Sharon truly embodies the Legion’s culture and values, and this award is thoroughly deserved.

It was also good to hear Councillor Kyle Robinson-Payne, Mayor of Gedling & Daybrook, deliver the civic welcome and receive recognition for his tremendous support to the Legion.
