Are you looking for the opportunity to improve trans healthcare across Nottingham? 🏨

Our healthcare team have been working hard on a project to map and improve the level of care provided by Notts GPs and we're looking to bring on some new volunteers to help with the workload! 🏳️‍⚧️

In particular we're looking for:
-GP Liasons
-Mapping and graphic design experts
-Policy and legal experts
-Comms people

Any questions please feel free to drop our Healthcare Lead, Dr Chase Staras an email at [email protected]

These roles are open to members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as allies, and can be done remotely as well as by those living outside of Nottingham so please feel free to share far and wide!

Happy Trans Day of Visibility from all of us here at NPP! 🏳️‍⚧️

We promise to continue our work to make sure trans people are given a seat at the table, and that our needs and issues are seen and heard all year round!

At a time where it feels like there is a concerted effort to remove our community from public life and public view, NPP will continue to push back- trans people aren't going anywhere anytime soon!

A huge well done and thank you to who ran the Nottingham Winter Warmer Half Marathon this Saturday and managed to raise a phenomenal £1.2k for NPP!

We're incredibly greatful to everyone who donated and supported Hannah, she absolutely smashed it- and of course our co-directors were there to cheer her over the finish line!

Hannah's fundraising campaign has already done so much to raise awareness of the need for trans inclusion in sport, and we'll be putting this money to good use; funding our ongoing campaigns to lobby MPs, create policy documents and launch research initiatives to provide the evidence needed to the push for more trans inclusive policies! 🏳️‍⚧️

We're incredibly greatful for the invitation to celebrate Community Iftar at Masjid Al-Khazra Mosque!

We had some very important conversations on how the LGBTQ+ and Muslim communities can work together in the face of far right bigotry and division, whilst also learning a lot about Ramadan and its importance to the faith of Islam.

And whilst many on the Far Right will try and convince people that our communities are incompatible (of course discounting the large number of LGBTQ+ Muslims)- nothing could be further from the truth as we were met with nothing but open arms and open dialogue on both sides- not to mention some amazing food (definitely the best Daal we've ever had)!

We'll continue building these relationships and look forward to our next visit!

Ramadan Mubarak!

As always our courts system has produced another garbled mess of a verdict- with both lgbt rights groups and transphobes claiming victory. But what does the ruling actually mean?

Firstly it should be said that today's ruling does not apply to customers or patrons- trans customers can still access facilities that align with their gender identity.

What the ruling does mean however is that trans people in the workplace risk being outed for using unisex or disabled facilities, trans people may also be asked to work from home if their workplace is unable to provide facilities which comply with this ruling.

Once again this further muddies the legal landscape- providing confusing and contradictory guidance for both businesses and members of the public. Despite clarifying that trans people cannot be forced to use spaces that align with their gender at birth, the also do not fully offer protection to safely access single gendered spaces- effectively creating a '3rd gender' category which is both discriminatory and encourages segregation.

As always NPP will continue to work with our allies across the country to push for clarity, and fight back against the backwards slide of equal rights 🏳️‍⚧️

Nottingham is a city that is proud to stand up for our trans community. We're proud to add our signatures alongside nearly 150 other LGBTQ+ and Feminist organisations in calling for the protection of trans rights- and to push back against the exclusion of trans people from public spaces. 🏳️‍⚧️

Happy LGBT History Month from Notts Pastel Project! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

It's set to be an absolutely packed February for us as we'll be popping up all over the place, trying to keep up with all the amazing events that are going on!

Here are just a few of the things that you can get involved with.

3rd- make sure to head down to Bassetlaw to show your solidarity with our friends at as they protest the anti-trans motion put forward by Reform councillors.

4th- we're travelling down to Parliament to meet with MPs and deliver our Puberty Blocker policy brief to support the upcoming debate.

9th- after months of hard work our website is finally going live! This will be your go to place to view all our policy and information documents, see the work we've been up to and share your thoughts and stories in our blog section.

14th- we'll be taking a much needed break and unwinding at (tag)

19th- as the launch date for the Nottingham Rainbow Quarter creeps ever closer we'll be meeting with community members and stakeholders to discuss how the launch event will be taking shape!

21st- our amazing supporter Hannah will be running the Nottingham Winter Warmer Half Marathon. She's already raised over £700 for NPP and we'll be there to show our support!

21st- we've also received an incredibly generous invitation to come and visit Majid Al-Khazra Mosque to witness Iftar. This is part of our ongoing work to build connections with other marginalised groups and communities across Nottingham so that we can push back against far-right hatred together.

25th- we'll be setting up shop at the Council House for the annual Rainbow Heritage Awards. Make sure you come on down to say hi!

27th- it's the Notts Pride Winter Ball! I think it's fair to say that after recent events we need as many people showing their support, attending this amazing fundraiser, and sticking it to those corporate pride events!

1st- rounding off amazing History Month with a screening of Tops at Broadway. You can still grab tickets in our bio!
