Forever Stars

Forever Stars We fund and equip bereavement suites, a remembrance garden and support centre for baby loss families

On the 19th December 2013, Michelle and Richard Daniels were dealt one of life’s hardest blows when their beautiful daughter Emily was stillborn. After 9 months of love and care for their unborn daughter, a freak twist of fate meant that she would be gone all to soon. The care that they received from the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham was first class and Michelle and Richard can only speak in

the highest regard for all the support they had from them. Sadly due to resources at the time, the Queen's Medical Centre, didn't have a permanent facility to cater for parents that have suffered baby loss and as such they families were placed back in a room on the maternity ward. On the second night of Michelle’s stay in hospital, due to the location of the room, she had to endure the torture of listening to a lady giving birth to a little girl and the joy surrounding the occasion, when Richard returned to the hospital the following morning, Michelle looked just as she did when we found out Emily had not survived. It was at that moment that Michelle and Richard agreed that when the time was right, they would work together to raise the necessary funds to initially create a bereavement suite at the Queen's Medical Centre, something they achieved in 2016 with the charity that they started called Forever Stars. Since establishing Forever Stars in January 2014 and officially become a registered charity in May of that year, the charity has grown from strength to strength. Forever Stars now funded a bereavement suite for both the Queen's Medical Centre and the City Hospital in Nottingham; called The Serenity Suites. The charity has also created a baby loss remembrance garden in Highfield Park called The Serenity Garden and in late 2021 officially opened their first support centre for baby loss families called The Serenity Centre. Forever Stars are also an official partner and are extremely proactive in supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week every October, to help break the taboo of talking about baby loss. Forever Stars is funded entirely through donations and has one part time member of staff and a fabulous bank of volunteers, all of whom work tirelessly for Forever Stars to help us support the baby loss community

For Michelle and Richard, their hearts will never mend from the loss of Emily but it hurts a little less knowing something so positive has happened from something so sad.

We still have spaces available for the Robin Hood Half Marathon and Mini Marathon Mini Marathon and we would love your children to be part of the Forever Stars team.

Taking part in a charity event like this offers so much more than just crossing a finish line:

• Builds empathy and compassion by helping children understand the importance of supporting others
• Encourages a sense of purpose and pride in contributing to something meaningful
• Promotes physical health, fitness, and positive habits from an early age
• Develops confidence and resilience through setting and achieving goals
• Strengthens teamwork and a sense of belonging as part of a wider community
• Helps children understand real-world issues in an age-appropriate and constructive way
• Creates lasting memories while doing something genuinely impactful

This is a chance for young runners to be part of something very special, representing a cause that supports families through the most difficult times.

If your child would like to get involved and make a difference, we would love to welcome them to the team.

EBC Day 8 - Lobuche (4,930m) to Gorakshep (5,181m) then summit Kalaptthar (5,545m) for sunset.

Going to be a long day with around 8/9 hours of walking but as with the previous 7 days, Bistarai Bistarai (Slowly Slowly), one foot in front of the other and we will make it there 🥾🥾

We have had snowfall over night so the temperatures are really cold, but to be expected this high up, how magical to see it under snow though 😍

Today’s steps are dedicated to Darcie-Rae 🩷, Arthur 💙 and Isabelle 🩷

Today is also a very special day as it’s Arthur’s 2nd Birthday.

Wishing you a very happy 2nd birthday little man 💙

My thoughts and love are with all three as we continue our journey up the mountain 🏔️

We’d like to say a huge thank you to this wonderful young lady Edith, who came to the Serenity Centre recently to donate her pocket money and money she had been given, to Forever Stars in memory of her brother Bowie.

It was lovely to spend some time with Mum, Emily - you both melted our hearts with your generosity.

This is a great opportunity for baby loss families with rainbow toddlers and babies to come together, letting the little one's play together in a safe environment, whilst parents and /or grandparents have a well earned coffee and chat. Light refreshments are provided.

This is free of charge to attend, thanks to the generosity of the Forever Stars supporters and fundraisers. All you need to do is complete the booking form included in the link.

It was a delight to attend the Lord Lieutenant presentation of the Kings Voluntary Service Award to Forever Stars on Friday, with Lilian Greenwood and James Naish for Rushcliffe .

Forever Stars is a brilliant local charity which support families affected by baby loss. Their work supports families at the most devastating moments of their lives, while also driving meaningful improvements in our local healthcare environments through initiatives including the Serenity Suites, the Serenity Garden, and the Serenity Centre.

The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is thoroughly deserved, and I am delighted to see this outstanding charity receive the recognition they have earned.
